Kidney Function Test (KFT) - Basic

400

The kidneys filter waste from the blood and help the body work properly. The Kidney Function Test is a group of blood tests that check how well the kidneys are working. If the kidneys are healthy, they get rid of things that control the amount of water in the body, keep the right balance of salts, and help the body digest food. All of these indicate good kidney health.

This basic kidney test makes use of Blood Urea Nitrogen, Serum Creatinine, and  Serum Uric Acid. It is used to find out if the kidneys are not working well. This test is usually done on people who suffer from high blood pressure, kidney stones, infections of the throat, swelling in the feet or face, or people who do not make much urine because their kidneys are damaged or do not function properly. It is also done on people who have a family member with kidney disease. Even though doctors usually recommend it for people with reduced kidney function, this test can prove to be really useful for people who want to get a routine health check-up done.

This Kidney Function Test is advantageous for people who are at risk of kidney disease,s and it helps them get the right care to keep their kidneys working well. The test is also useful for people who already have kidney disease, as it helps doctors keep track of how the disease is progressing and make any necessary changes to their treatment plan.
