- Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows free movement of the chest and abdomen during breathing exercises.
- Avoid smoking, vaping, and exposure to respiratory irritants before the test unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
- Avoid strenuous physical activity or heavy exercise before the examination to ensure accurate lung function measurements.
- Inform your doctor about all respiratory medications, inhalers, or other medicines you are currently using, as some medications may need adjustment before the test.
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of asthma, COPD, lung infection, chest surgery, heart disease, or any other respiratory condition.
- Carry previous PFT reports, Chest X-ray, CT Chest reports, respiratory prescriptions, laboratory reports, or other medical records, if available, for comparison and accurate evaluation.
- Avoid wearing tight clothing that may restrict breathing during the test.
- Follow the instructions provided by the respiratory technician and perform breathing manoeuvres as guided for accurate results.
