Pulmonary Function Test (PFT)

A pulmonary or lung function test (PFT) can be used to diagnose the lung disease and to see how well treatment for the disease is working. It measures the function of the lungs and reveals problems associated with breathing. The test can be performed in case of shortness of breathing or to confirm lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. Before any major lung surgeries, doctors order this test to evaluate lung capacity.
