₹6000

Get the BOH Profile done at Molecular Diagnostic and Therapy, an NABL- and NABH-accredited Pathology & Diagnostic centre. A group of selected laboratory investigations that may help evaluate certain medical, hormonal, metabolic, and immunological conditions associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes or recurrent pregnancy loss.

About BOH Profile

A BOH Profile may be considered for women with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or selected previous pregnancy complications, depending on their clinical history and medical assessment. The investigations may help identify certain underlying conditions that could contribute to pregnancy complications or pregnancy loss. Depending on the clinical indication, investigations may include blood glucose testing, thyroid function tests, selected hormonal tests, and antiphospholipid antibody testing. Additional investigations may be advised by the treating doctor. The exact tests performed will depend on the diagnostic centre being utilized and the patient's history.

What is a BOH Profile?

A BOH Profile is a group of laboratory investigations that may be recommended as part of an assessment following recurrent pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or selected pregnancy complications. Can be useful in the investigation of some conditions which may affect pregnancy including autoimmune diseases, haemopathy, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, DM, infections etc. They are assessed and viewed as part of a patient's obstetric history, clinical examination, previous pregnancy history and other investigations, to treat and manage patients further.

Common Reasons for BOH Profile

  • Recurrent Miscarriages: To investigate the underlying causes of recurrent miscarriage.
  • Previous Stillbirth: To facilitate assessment following an unexplained stillbirth or poor birth outcome.
  • Repeated Pregnancy Complications: An evaluation of certain medical conditions that could impact pregnancy.
  • Suspected Antiphospholipid Syndrome: To check for the presence of antibodies that may predispose a woman to having pregnancy-related complications.
  • Hormonal Abnormalities: To evaluate some hormonal disorders such as thyroid abnormalities.
  • Improved blood sugars: To test for any blood sugar abnormalities that could impact a pregnancy.
  • Unexplained Pregnancy Loss: To help further investigations when an underlying cause for previous patients' pregnancy loss is not easily determined.
  • Aggregate Evaluation: To help identify treatable conditions before re-conception.

Conditions Evaluated

Antiphospholipid Syndrome

APS is an autoimmune condition or disease that leads to abnormal blood clots and some pregnancy problems. Laboratory tests ordered might also include lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies and anti-beta-2 glycoprotein I antibodies (specific to the panel prescribed).

Thyroid Disorders

Pregnancy and reproductive health are affected by thyroid hormone imbalance. Blood tests of thyroid function can help diagnose a thyroid disorder, such as an underactive or overactive thyroid.

Hormonal Abnormalities

A number of different hormonal tests may be requested to investigate the part hormones are playing in menstrual irregularity or issues throughout pregnancy.

Diabetes and Metabolic Abnormalities

Measuring blood glucose may be helpful to diagnose diabetes or over/under levels of blood glucose (impaired glucose regulation – IGR), which can impact pregnancy health and outcomes.

Selected Infectious Conditions

Tests may be ordered and are recommended based on your clinical history for some known infections.

Autoimmune and Other Medical Conditions

Further tests may be suggested if there is a history and examination that suggests an underlying medical condition or immune-related disease may be suspected.
