CEMRI BOTH WRISTS

₹16000

Schedule CEMRI Both Wrists at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH-accredited diagnostic centre that offers you the best-in-class radiology & diagnostic imaging. A type of imaging technique, the CEMRI of both wrists can give detailed information about the bones, joints, cartilage, tendons, and tissues around the bone and joint. Selected inflammatory conditions, infections, masses, and other abnormalities of the wrist can be evaluated by using contrast enhancement.

About CEMRI Both Wrists

It gives details of the small wrist bones along with the spaces, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments and the soft tissue around them. It is capable of emphasising the contrast enhancement.

It can help characterize selected abnormalities based on their enhancement patterns in the selected tissues and abnormalities, to increase information. A clinical assessment may be recommended when inflammatory joint disease, infection, soft-tissue lesions, unexplained swelling, or abnormal imaging findings are suspected.

What is CEMRI Both Wrist?

CEMRI is short for Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and in the exam, the strong magnets and powerful radio waves form images of both wrists. The use of a contrast agent (usually intravenous) makes selected tissues and/or abnormalities easier for the radiologist to examine. CEMRI can be used to look at both carpal bones together to assess the condition of the carpal bones, carpal joint surfaces, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and some of the nerve-related structures, and may also be used to check any associated soft tissues.

Common Reasons for CEMRI Both Wrists

  • Persistent Wrist Pain: Evaluation of pain over one or two wrists, which has persisted for some time or otherwise is not obviously known to have a cause.
  • Joint Swelling: Assessment of the persistent swelling, tenderness and/or possible inflammatory changes of the wrist joints.
  • Suspected Inflammatory Arthritis: Assessment of changes in wrist joints and associated tissue changes (synovitis) that are suggestive of Inflammatory Arthritis.
  • Possible Infection: Evaluation of possible infection of the bones or surrounding soft tissues.
  • Tendon & Ligament Abnormalities: Assessment of injuries to tendons and/or ligaments and related changes.
  • Bone and Bone Marrow Lesions: Assessment of any possible defect in the wrist bones and the bone marrow.
  • Abnormal Previous Imaging: If there was some other prior imaging, such as X-rays, ultrasound, or MRI, see the description of the results of these X-rays in this section.
  • Post-Surgical Assessment: Testing for some abnormalities after treatment/surgery of your wrist.
  • Selected wrist abnormalities: Follow-Up of Known Condition – monitoring selected wrist abnormality in known condition (contrast-enhanced imaging).

Conditions Evaluated

Inflammatory Joint Conditions

CEMRI can be used to assess changes in "synovial inflammation" or other changes in the wrist joints. Contrast staining is sometimes used to gain further information about the continuous inflammatory process in certain inflammatory conditions like inflammatory arthritis.

Bone and Bone Marrow Abnormalities

A series of detailed images of the bone of the carpus (wrist) and the bone marrow surrounding it are provided by the exam. It may be helpful to select lesions for further characterisation, inflammatory changes, and other abnormalities.

Tendon and Ligament Abnormalities

MRI imaging is good for evaluating the tears, inflammation, degeneration, and shape changes of the ligaments and tenosynoviums surrounding the wrist. Where there is an adjacent inflammatory and/or other abnormality that will need further evaluation, it may be advantageous to use contrast.

Soft-Tissue Masses and Lesions

The contrast enhancement of soft-tissue masses can be used to characterize their enhancement, their internal composition, and their distribution, from which selected soft tissue masses can be selected. Additional testing might be needed to make a definite diagnosis.

Infection and Inflammation

This test may help determine whether a lot of fluid is present in the joints of the wrist and help detect synovial changes. Advantageously, this can now be better demonstrated by using contrast enhancement if there is synovial inflammation, which is clinically indicated.

Joint Effusion and Synovitis

MRI can help identify joint effusions and synovial abnormalities. Contrast may help evaluate synovitis when clinically indicated.

Cartilage and Joint Surface Abnormalities

MRI provides detailed visualization of the joint surfaces and surrounding structures, helping evaluate selected cartilage abnormalities and degenerative changes.

Post-Surgical and Treatment-Related Changes

If there is an abnormality, surgery or treatment, CEMRI may be asked to examine these abnormalities after surgery or after treatment, if they seem to be continuing or if the abnormality is likely to be an infection or changes that have to be monitored further.

Comparison of Both Wrists

Both wrists are imaged to check for abnormalities on either side. A clinically significant result may help determine the distribution and severity of joint and/or soft-tissue abnormalities in this instance.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL and NABH-accredited diagnostic centre equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in the field of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Pathology services. Our diagnostic imaging core components revolve around appropriate imaging, veteran staff, reliable information, and a patient-centered approach. Patient information is given on the examination, contrast, and precautions to ensure a well-organised and well-conducted examination.

Conclusion

CEMRI Both Wrist is a special type of imaging test to assess for some wrist bone, cartilage, tendon, ligament, and soft tissue problems in both wrists. Contrast can be very useful and provide valuable additional information in the context of suspected inflammation/infection, mass, and other complex abnormalities. In Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, it assists physicians in decision-making with regard to the diagnosis and/or treatment planning based on the Imaging Assessment & Clinical Assessment.

Test information: Fasting for 4–6 hours is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting for 4–6 hours is required before the examination, as instructed by the diagnostic centre.
  • Inform the medical team if you are pregnant, suspect that you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Tell the medical team if you have kidney disease, a history of reactions to MRI contrast agents, or any known allergies.
  • Inform the staff about any pacemaker, cochlear implant, metal implants, surgical clips, or other implanted medical devices before entering the MRI room.
  • Tell the medical team if you have metal fragments in your body or have undergone previous surgery involving either wrist or hand.
  • Inform the doctor about all medicines you take. Do not stop prescribed medicines unless advised by your doctor.
  • Kidney function testing may be required before contrast administration, depending on your medical history and the centre's protocol.
  • Remove watches, bracelets, rings, and other metallic objects from both hands and wrists before the examination.
  • Wear comfortable clothing without metal components, or change into the clothing provided by the centre if required.
  • Bring the doctor's prescription, previous MRI or other imaging reports, relevant laboratory results, and medical records, if available.
  • Inform the medical team if you have pain, swelling, difficulty keeping both wrists still, or anxiety in enclosed spaces.
  • Follow the instructions provided by the radiology team throughout the examination.
