Get your CEMRI Right Shoulder at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an advanced, NABL & NABH-accredited radiology and diagnostic imaging centre. The CEMRI of the right shoulder provides detailed information about the bones, joints, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues surrounding the right shoulder. Contrast enhancement may be useful for doctors to assess abnormalities in selected conditions such as inflammation, infection, masses, and after surgery.
About CEMRI Right Shoulder
CEMRI is a contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging examination of the right shoulder when it is clinically indicated to obtain contrast-enhanced images of the shoulder. It offers full visualization of the shoulder joint, rotator cuff tendon, labrum, muscle, and ligaments of the shoulder girdle and the surrounding soft tissue. The contrast agent will identify the specific tissues and any abnormalities, because contrast provides more information on how much to enhance and the level of enhancement. The exam could be suggested if further investigation into a potential lesion, infection, inflammatory condition, or post-surgery abnormality is needed.
What is CEMRI Right Shoulder?
The exam uses a powerful magnet and radio waves to produce good-quality images of the right shoulder. Some tissue and abnormalities are highlighted by giving a medicine or dye into the vein, so the radiologist can see and detect them more easily. CEMRI Right Shoulder can evaluate the humeral head, glenoid, shoulder joint, tendons of the rotator cuff, labrum, biceps tendon, muscles & soft tissue surrounding the shoulder joint. MRI does not use X-rays or other forms of radiation.
Common Reasons for CEMRI Right Shoulder
Persistent Shoulder Pain: Investigation of persistent and/or unusual pain in the right shoulder.
Osteosarcoma of the shoulder: examination of the joint and soft tissue which may reveal swelling.
Examination of suspected infection of the shoulder joint, bones and surrounding tissues.
Inflammatory abnormalities of the shoulder (Inflammatory Conditions) were assessed.
Soft-Tissue Masses: Detailed evaluation of any soft tissue lumps, lesions, or abnormalities.
Rotator Cuff Abnormalities: Additional tests to evaluate the tendon lesions or changes; X-ray, ultrasound, or MRI might be indicated.
Examination of some unusual conditions of the humerus, glenoid, and bone marrow (bone and bone marrow Lesions).
Abnormal Previous Imaging: This is further characterization of what was noted on the X-ray, ultrasound, CT, or prior MRI.
Post-Surgical Assessment: Evaluation of abnormalities which have been created following surgery to the shoulder.
Further Evaluation of Previously Diagnosed Lesions or Other Findings When Imaging with Contrast is Indicated: Subsequent imaging of previously diagnosed lesions or other abnormal findings.
Conditions Evaluated
Rotator Cuff Abnormalities
MRI reveals very detailed images of the rotator cuff tendons and their muscles. It might help to figure out if there are any tendons that are swollen, torn, or don't match up in quality,y or other abnormalities of the tendons or other structures. If the lesion or post-operative lesion has a co-existing lesion or other abnormality which has yet to be assessed, it may be worthwhile to perform this contrast (TAT).
Shoulder Joint and Cartilage Abnormalities
By the examination, selected structural abnormalities, inflammatory changes, and degenerative conditions of the surfaces and cartilage, as well as the surrounding tissues of the shoulder joint, can be evaluated.
Labral Abnormalities
MRI can assess the labrum, which is a ring of cartilage that supports the shoulder joint. In certain selected cases of labral injuries and abnormalities, an MRI may be ordered and may prefer a special protocol (IV contrast-enhanced MRI of the labrum) over a routine MRI.
Bone and Bone Marrow Lesions
CEMRI of the humeral head, glenoid, and bone marrow around the humeral head can be used to assess selected lesions, inflammatory changes, and other abnormalities which require further characterisation.
Infection and Inflammation
Contrast-enhanced MRI may help to evaluate some soft tissue and shoulder joint fluid collections in cases of suspected infection/ inflammatory changes.
Soft-Tissue Masses and Lesions
Internal structure of selected soft-tissue masses can be characterised in terms of contrast by visualising their pattern of enhancement and their extent. Additional tests or biopsy may be needed to make a certain diagnosis.
Tendon and Muscle Abnormalities
For select conditions, the results of the test may identify abnormalities in the tissue and in both tendons and muscles and injuries to the shoulder region.
Joint Effusion and Synovial Changes
MRI can be useful for suggesting an excess of fluid in the shoulder joint, and the synovial changes that happen at the same time. Contrast can provide additional information if it is suspected that the joint has some inflammation or is abnormal in some way.
Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH accredited diagnostic centre with the most modern set-up for Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Pathology departments. Our imaging services focus on optimal and most appropriate imaging protocols, highly skilled imaging professionals, timely imaging reports, and patient-centred imaging services. Seamless patient instructions around the MRI process, contrast administration, and relevant safety info for a blip-free diagnostic experience.
Conclusion
CEMRI Right Shoulder is a diagnostic imaging examination used to evaluate selected abnormalities of the shoulder joint, bones, tendons, muscles, and surrounding soft tissues. Contrast enhancement may be useful to provide further information if suspected infection, inflammation, masses, or changes after surgery are considered. Imaging is utilized at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy to aid in informed diagnosis and treatment-planning decisions.
Test information: Fasting for 4–6 hours is required.
Reporting: Within 24 hours*
Fasting for 4–6 hours is required before the examination, as instructed by the centre.
Inform the medical team if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Inform the staff if you have a pacemaker, cochlear implant, metal implants, surgical clips, or any other implanted medical device. Mention any history of metal fragments in your body.

Kidney function tests may be required before contrast administration, depending on your medical history and the centre’s protocol.
Tell the medical team about any previous shoulder injury, surgery, infection, or ongoing treatment.
Bring the doctor’s prescription, previous MRI or CT scans, X-ray images, ultrasound reports, and other relevant medical records.
Remove jewellery, watches, metallic accessories, and other objects that may interfere with MRI safety or image quality.
Wear comfortable clothing without metal fasteners and follow the staff’s instructions.
Inform the medical team if you experience pain or difficulty remaining in the required position during the scan.
Do not stop prescribed medicines unless your doctor advises you to do so.
