MRI CERVICAL DORSAL SPINE SCREENING

₹3000

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH-recognised diagnostic centre that features state-of-the-art Radiology and diagnostic imaging, Microbial Analysis, a molecular biology lab, and specialized centres. This screening MRI can result in a full view of the cervical and thoracic (dorsal) spine, providing the doctor with an overall view of how things look in the spine, for example, abnormal curvature, the shape of the backbone bones, intervertebral discs, and the spinal cord.

About MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening

MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening is an imaging examination that evaluates the cervical spine (neck region) and thoracic or dorsal spine (upper and mid-back region). It shows a view of the cervical and dorsal vertebrae, intervertebral discs, spinal canal, and spinal cord. This exam may be recommended when complaints suggest a disease process in two or more levels of the spine. If the image looks abnormal, a particular MRI of the affected area of your spine might be suggested to acquire more details.

What is MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening?

MRI is a type of imaging that is referred to as Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Captures detailed pictures of the relationships within the inside of your body without the use of an X-ray beam or other form of radiation. MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening test is a screening for the upper and middle back (dorsal or thoracic spine) and the upper neck (cervical spine). Images captured during the screening are used to help assess the position of the vertebrae, the discs in between them, the space of the spinal canal, and the spinal cord. This examination is performed without contrast dye, but sometimes requires the use of contrast dye for the clinical indication.

Common Reasons for MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening

  • Upper and Mid-Back Pain: Assessment of pain and discomfort in the dorsal (or thoracic) spine.
  • Evaluating pain with radiation from the neck/back to the shoulders, arms, and/or into another area.
  • Numbness/Tingling: Exam of sensory symptoms which may be related to involvement of spinal nerves.
  • Evaluation of Post-Traumatic Symptoms due to specific neck/upper back injuries.
  • Multiple Spinal Symptoms: Screening for symptoms at the cervical spine and dorsal spine.
  • Abnormal Previous Imaging: Additional imaging if they have seen issues in one of these areas of the spine in previous imaging.

Conditions Evaluated

Intervertebral Disc Abnormalities

An abnormal MRI may show disc protrusions, bulges in the cervical and dorsal spine, and abnormalities. The results may require specialised imaging to be used to assess the detail.

Spinal Canal Narrowing

An examination might be able to provide an overall idea of the spinal canal and will be able to help determine if the canal becomes narrow somewhere and can press on the spinal cord or against surrounding neural tissues.

Spinal Cord Abnormalities

During screening, images are acquired of the spinal cord to assess the presence of certain abnormalities in the structure of the spinal cord or abnormalities in the image intensity. If a health problem is detected, further detailed MRI might be required.

Vertebral Alignment Abnormalities

MRI may be useful to assess alignment or line between cervical and dorsal vertebrae and in some cases to give information regarding abnormal curve or displacement of the vertebrae.

Degenerative Spine Changes

The exam can show age changes of the intervertebral discs (in between the vertebrae), the spinal bodies (the bones that make up the spine), and other structures of the spine.

Spinal Injuries and Structural Changes

In some cases, the post-trauma MRI screening can have a beneficial role, as it can help to identify selected abnormalities of the vertebrae, discs, and surrounding soft tissues.

Nerve-Related Structural Changes

The films taken may exhibit issues with the spinal cord as well as nerves. These tissues may need to be scanned in-depth with special area scans.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH certified Diagnostic Center equipped with all modern facilities from Radiology to Nuclear medicine and Pathology put together into a one-stop facility. We use modernized MRI technology and standardization in MRI protocols, are staffed with qualified radiology professionals, and provide patient comfort, safety and timely results.

Book Your MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening

If your doctor advises you to have an MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening, talk to your doctor about scheduling your appointment with Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. If possible, include copies of your prescription, previous MRI and/or CT scan reports, X-rays, and other medical records. Advise the MRI machine personnel in advance if there is an implanted medical device, pacemaker, surgical clips or metal implants present.

Test information: Fasting NOT needed

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting is not required before the MRI Cervical Dorsal Spine Screening.
  • Inform the MRI staff if you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant.
  • Inform the MRI staff if you have a pacemaker, cochlear implant, artificial joint, surgical clips, metal implants, or any other implanted medical device.
  • Tell the staff if you have a history of surgery, particularly involving the spine, neck, or back.
  • Inform the MRI technician if you have metal fragments in your body, particularly near the eyes or head.
  • Bring your doctor's prescription, previous MRI or CT scans, X-rays, and relevant medical records, if available.
  • Remove jewellery, watches, belts, coins, keys, hairpins, and other metallic objects before entering the MRI room.
  • You may be asked to change into a hospital gown to avoid interference from clothing or metallic accessories.
  • Inform the MRI staff if you experience claustrophobia or difficulty lying flat for an extended period.
  • Follow the technician's instructions and remain still during image acquisition to obtain clear images.
  • If you experience discomfort during the examination, inform the MRI technician.
