MRI LEFT KNEE WITH CONTRAST

₹10000

MRI is an advanced medical imaging test using a magnetic field and the use of radio waves. The advanced radiology and imaging department at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, accredited by NABL and NABH, uses an injection of a contrast agent in the patient to perform an MRI. Contrast-enhanced specialized MRI of the bones, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments of the left knee and the soft tissue is used to assess for specific abnormalities.

About MRI Left Knee with Contrast

MRI Left Knee With Contrast is an extensive imaging software program tool that helps evaluate left knee structures to support clinical decision-making when the use of contrast is clinically indicated. It can be helpful to learn about soft tissue changes, inflammation, infections, masses, joint changes, and other abnormalities of the knee. Routine imaging may not be sufficient, or if there is an abnormality, it is recommended to get more detail.

What is MRI Left Knee with Contrast?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the left knee with contrast is an imaging test that produces detailed images of the left knee with the use of a powerful magnetic field and radio waves.  It is given during the exam to show the radiologist specific tissues or abnormalities and provide the doctor with more information. During the scan, the bones, cartilage, joint, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and surrounding soft tissues of the knee will be assessed.

Common Reasons for MRI Left Knee with Contrast

  • Persistent or unexplained left knee pain
  • Swelling or tenderness around the knee
  • Suspected infection or inflammation
  • Evaluation of a soft-tissue mass or lesion
  • Suspected bone or soft-tissue abnormality
  • Assessment of tendon or ligament problems
  • Evaluation of joint and cartilage abnormalities
  • Follow-up of a known lesion or previous treatment
  • Assessment of post-surgical changes
  • Further evaluation of an abnormality detected on previous imaging

Conditions Evaluated

Bone and Bone Marrow Abnormalities

MRI can provide detailed information about the bones and bone marrow of the left knee, helping evaluate edema, inflammation, infection, lesions, and other abnormalities.

Meniscus and Cartilage Abnormalities

The examination can assess the menisci and articular cartilage for tears, degeneration, inflammation, and other structural changes.

Ligament and Tendon Injuries

MRI provides detailed visualization of the ligaments and tendons around the knee and can help identify tears, inflammation, degeneration, and other abnormalities.

Soft-Tissue Lesions

Contrast-enhanced MRI can help characterize soft-tissue masses and lesions by showing their extent and enhancement pattern.

Infection and Inflammation

MRI with contrast can assist in evaluating suspected infection or inflammatory changes involving the bones, joint, or surrounding soft tissues.

Post-Surgical and Treatment Changes

The scan may be used to assess the knee following surgery or treatment and to evaluate persistent or recurrent abnormalities.

Joint Abnormalities

MRI can provide detailed assessment of the knee joint, including joint fluid, synovial changes, cartilage, and surrounding structures.

Benefits of MRI Left Knee with Contrast

  • Provides detailed images of the left knee
  • Evaluates bones and soft tissues in detail
  • Helps characterize masses and lesions
  • Helps assess menisci, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and joint structures
  • Supports detailed evaluation of known abnormalities
  • Helps doctors with diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up

Test information: Fasting for 4–6 hours

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting for 4–6 hours is required before the examination.
  • Follow the centre’s instructions regarding water intake and regular medicines before the scan.
  • Inform the medical team about any previous reaction to MRI contrast agents.
  • Inform the medical team if you have kidney disease or reduced kidney function, as contrast administration requires appropriate safety assessment.
  • Provide details of all current medicines and supplements.
  • Inform the MRI team about any pacemaker, implanted medical device, surgical clips, artificial joint, medication pump, or other metallic implant.
  • Inform the team if you have ever had a metallic fragment injury, particularly involving the eyes.
  • Inform the team if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
  • Bring previous MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound reports, prescriptions, and other relevant medical records.
  • Remove jewellery, watches, belts, hair accessories, and other metallic or magnetic objects before entering the MRI room.
  • Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the examination.
  • Inform the staff if pain, swelling, stiffness, or restricted movement makes it difficult to remain in the required position.
  • Remain still during image acquisition to reduce motion-related image distortion.
  • Report any unusual symptoms such as itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing difficulty, or discomfort after contrast administration.
