MRI RIGHT HAND WITH CONTRAST

₹10000

Access to an advanced Molecular Diagnostics & Therapy facility, a high-level MRI facility, and NABL- and NABH-certified advanced Radiology & Diagnostic Medical Imaging. Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the right hand helps to provide information on the soft tissues, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and bones associated with the right hand. Useful in the diagnosis of chronic debilitating swelling and pain in the hands, suspected infection, soft tissue masses, inflammatory disorders and abnormalities to aid other soft tissue diagnoses. The IV contrast can be used in a multitude of applications that are complementary to the clinic and, in the assessment and characterization, of a wide variety of soft tissue or inflammatory conditions. One of our aims at the centre is to ensure safety and appropriate procedure; the correct diagnosis is reported back to the patient, allowing the patient to assess the diagnosis and decide on their treatment plan.

About MRI Right Hand with Contrast

Examines the soft structures and bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles in the hands. Improved imaging is more suitable if inflammatory changes and masses of soft tissues are noted in the event of an infection; and abnormalities can be noted if the imaging has been enhanced after surgery or trauma. In Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, the procedures are customized to impart the primary aim of utilizing imaging to the greatest extent possible to provide a complete overview and treatment plan for the specific clinical questions.

What is MRI Right Hand with Contrast?

MRI Right Hand with Contrast involves an intense magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed images of the right hand after injection of contrast dye, if necessary. The tissues will look slightly different on the MRI with the contrast, helping the radiologist see how much the contrast agent alters MRI signal characteristics in tissues where it accumulates. An examination might be recommended when not enough information is obtained from the routine imaging, or when the doctor wants to know how large a lesion or sign of inflammation or infection is. Determining whether a contrast will be needed and additional preparation that may be required will be decided by the doctor or the radiology team.

Common Reasons for MRI Right Hand with Contrast

  • Suspected infection: Aids in evaluating for infection of the soft tissues, joints, or bone.
  • Inflammatory joint conditions: Assesses several inflammatory changes in hand joints and tissues.
  • Tendon and Ligament abnormalities: Gives greater specificity about the abnormal condition of the supporting tissues.
  • Post-traumatic assessment: Supports the understanding of whether symptoms have been present or if there are more complex soft tissue changes that have occurred as a result of an injury.
  • Postoperative evaluation: May be able to share information on possible complications or on any changes to a treatment area of the past.
  • Tissue abnormality: If the tissue abnormality will need contrast enhancement, then further characterisation is provided for unexplained tissue abnormality.

Conditions Evaluated

Soft-Tissue Masses and Tumours

MRI images will permit assessment of the site, enhancement of the soft tissue mass, and the pattern of soft tissue enhancement. Additional tests may be needed to help diagnose the condition, such as a biopsy.

Bone and Soft-Tissue Infections

The examination might aid in evaluating the possibility of an infection of the hand bones, joints, or soft tissue around them. When there is inflammatory change (or some collections), the extent of it can be revealed through the use of a contrast agent.

Inflammatory Arthritis

MRI can be used to identify selected inflammatory changes of the joint, hand, peri-articular soft tissues, and synovial structures. The information obtained in these evaluations may also be taken into account during the evaluation of inflammatory joint diseases along with the clinical and laboratory exams.

Joint and Cartilage Abnormalities

MRI is able to visualize the soft tissue and the joint structures in the hand. In rare situations, the doctor may desire more information about inflammation and/or abnormal tissue processes, so contrast imaging may be beneficial.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Our centre has an MRI machine and trained radiology physicians who have knowledge about various aspects of MRI examination with contrast media. Serenity for each patient, safety when applying the contrast, effective organization of the diagnostic procedure, and clarity about the cost of the diagnostic procedure are among the essentials in the diagnostic process.

Book Your MRI Right Hand with Contrast

If you have been advised to have an MRI Right Hand With Contrast because of hand discomfort or swelling, please contact the Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy office to schedule an appointment and find out what you will need to bring to your appointment.

Test information: Fasting for 4–6 hours is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting for 4–6 hours is required before the examination, as instructed by the diagnostic centre.
  • Inform the MRI team if you are pregnant or may be pregnant.
  • Tell the staff if you have a pacemaker, cochlear implant, metal implant, or a history of metal fragments in your body.
  • Inform the radiology team if you have kidney disease or have experienced a reaction to MRI contrast material previously. Kidney function tests may be required depending on your medical history and the centre’s protocol.
  • Remove rings, watches, bracelets, and other metallic objects before entering the MRI room.
  • Bring your doctor’s prescription, previous X-rays, MRI or CT reports, and relevant medical records, if available.
  • Inform the team about any previous right-hand surgery, recent injury, or difficulty keeping your hand still.
  • Do not stop prescribed medicines unless your doctor advises you to do so.
  • Follow all preparation instructions provided by the radiology team.
