ANTENATEL PROFILE II

Antenatal Profile II includes several laboratory tests. These are done to expectant mothers during pregnancy to look for any infections, nutritional deficiencies, blood disorders, thyroid abnormalities, diabetes, and urinary tract infections. This is not an invasive procedure; rather, a simple blood sample is collected that can be used to help guide the decision to consider more invasive tests, if required, and in the planning stages.

Doctors generally recommend this test during the second trimester, which is considered the ideal stage. It is useful for all pregnant women who want to know about their maternal health and about the health of the child developing in the womb. This profile can help identify concerns at early stages and prevent further complications in the pregnancy journey from developing. 

This profile comprises a Complete Blood Count (CBC) test, that tell the haemoglobin levels, Plasma Glucose, which tells whether the mother could have gestational diabetes, Blood Group (ABO and Rh Typing) determines the mother's blood group and Rh status, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg), Hepatitis C Rapid Card, HIV 1 & 2 Rapid Card, and VDRL screen for infectious diseases that can affect pregnancy and may be transmitted from mother to baby if they’re left untreated. For thyroid function, Serum TSH is used. Urine analysis is done for kidney disorders that develop during pregnancy. 

Antenatal screening can help to rule out complications during pregnancy and support a healthy pregnancy journey for women.
