Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an advanced diagnostic centre and an NABL- and NABH-accredited diagnostic centre, offers the ABPA Profile to help evaluate Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA). ABPA is an allergy of the lungs that is triggered by a fungus called Aspergillus fumigatus. This profile contains blood tests to support the evaluation of allergic reactions and immune responses to Aspergillus. The results could help inform physicians on how to treat patients with respiratory problems, especially those who have asthma or cystic fibrosis.
What is ABPA Profile?
ABPA Profile: A panel of blood tests that is used to evaluate the immune response in the body to Aspergillus fumigatus. It detects total Immunoglobulin E (IgE), Aspergillus fumigatus-specific IgE, and Aspergillus-specific IgG antibodies. These tests give details of the sensitisation to a fungus and immune responses to it. The test results help physicians to estimate the likelihood of a diagnosis of ABPA, which is based on the symptoms, prior medical history, and physical exams as well as test imaging, of course, and other rapid tests to check for ABPA.
Common Reasons for ABPA Profile
Persistent Asthma Symptoms: Evaluation of patients with asthma whose symptoms remain difficult to control.
Suspected Fungal Allergy: Investigation when an allergic response to Aspergillus fumigatus is suspected.
Recurrent Respiratory Symptoms: Assessment of patients experiencing repeated episodes of coughing, wheezing, or breathing difficulty.
Suspected ABPA: Support in evaluating possible allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.
Elevated IgE Levels: Further investigation when total IgE levels are high, and the doctor suspects a fungal-related allergic condition.
Follow-up Evaluation: Monitoring of immune markers when recommended by the treating doctor.
Conditions Evaluated
Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA)
The profile helps evaluate the immune response associated with ABPA, a condition in which the body develops an allergic reaction to Aspergillus fungi in the airways. The findings are interpreted with symptoms and other diagnostic investigations.
Aspergillus Sensitisation
Aspergillus-specific IgE testing helps identify whether the immune system has developed an allergic response to Aspergillus fumigatus. Sensitisation alone does not necessarily mean that a person has ABPA.
Allergic Conditions
Total IgE measures the overall level of IgE antibodies in the blood. Increased levels may be seen in different allergic conditions and need to be interpreted in the patient's clinical context.
Immune Response to Aspergillus
Aspergillus-specific IgG antibodies provide information about the body's immune response to the fungus. These results may support further evaluation when interpreted alongside other findings.

Book Your ABPA Profile
Contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy for sample collection and testing if your doctor told you to get an ABPA Profile. The results should be interpreted by your doctor who treats you, in the context of your symptoms and any other tests performed, to determine what they mean.
Test information: No fasting required. A blood sample is required.
Reporting: As per the centre's reporting schedule.
Fasting is not required before the test.
Inform the doctor about any history of asthma, cystic fibrosis, allergies, or other respiratory conditions.
Share details of current medications, especially steroids or anti-allergy medicines, with the doctor.
Bring the doctor's prescription and previous allergy, IgE, or respiratory investigation reports, if available.
Inform the medical team about any ongoing treatment or recent changes in respiratory symptoms.
A blood sample is required for this test.

डायग्नोस्टिक सेंटर द्वारा दिए गए अतिरिक्त निर्देशों का पालन करें।
The patient is asked to sit comfortably for blood sample collection.
A healthcare professional cleans the selected area, usually on the arm, with an antiseptic solution.
A blood sample is collected from a vein using a sterile needle.
The collected blood is transferred into the appropriate sample collection tube.
The sample is labelled and sent to the laboratory for analysis.
The laboratory measures total Immunoglobulin E (IgE), Aspergillus fumigatus-specific IgE, and Aspergillus-specific IgG, as included in the prescribed profile.
The test results are reviewed and compiled into a laboratory report.
The report is shared with the treating doctor for interpretation alongside the patient's symptoms, medical history, and other investigations.
