About Health Panel Essential-1

Here's an overview of your important health information – that's what Health Panel Essential-1 is about. Contains various blood and urine tests to potentially indicate problems with everyday health areas and/or additional medical evaluations may be needed. The package includes complete blood count, blood glucose (fasting & post-meal), lipid profile, blood urea nitrogen, liver function, urine analysis, ESR, thyroid function. The value of these investigations is useful for routine health assessment/monitoring.

What is Health Panel Essential-1?

The laboratory investigations that are done from blood and urine sample is a package of the tests named Health Panel Essential-1. Each test evaluates a different aspect of the body's functioning. This test is used to evaluate blood cells, glucose control, cholesterol, liver function, kidney markers, thyroid function, and some markers of inflammation. This might be recommended because of a regular health check-up or suggested by a health care professional for full lab testing.

Tests Included in Health Panel Essential-1

Complete Blood Count (CBC)

CBC involves measurement of various blood constituents such as red blood cells, white blood cells, haemoglobin, and platelets. Supports the assessment of anaemia, infections, and some blood diseases.

Plasma Glucose – Fasting

This test takes into account blood glucose levels that have not been stimulated by any form of intake over a period of time. It is valuable for evaluation of blood sugar regulation and can be used for diabetes/screening for prediabetes.

Lipid Profile

The lipid profile includes levels of cholesterol as well as triglycerides, with important items in the cholesterol fractions. It can be used to aid the evaluation of the cardiovascular risk presented by blood lipids that fall outside the normal range.

Liver Function Test (LFT)

LFT analyses several enzymes, proteins, and other substances in the blood to check how healthy the liver is. It can help to determine abnormalities which could be connected with liver inflammation, injury, or liver disease.

Urine Analysis

Urine Analysis determines the physical, chemical, and microscopic properties of urine. It aids in the discovery of results that can be linked with a urinary tract infection, kidney disorders, and metabolic irregularities.

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)

ESR is a measure of how rapidly red cells tend to fall in a test tube over a set time period. It is non-specific and can be raised when there is inflammation and is looked at in conjunction with other clinical signs.

Plasma Glucose – Postprandial (PP)

This blood glucose test is taken after eating, usually at the time indicated by your doctor or the lab. It aids in the evaluation of the body's reaction to food and helps control blood sugar.

Serum TSH (Ultrasensitive)

Thyroid-stimulating hormone is measured by a very sensitive test. It is useful in assessing thyroid function and may enable the detection of certain overactive and underactive thyroid conditions.

Common Reasons for Health Panel Essential-1

  • Routine Health Screening: Overview of important health parameters, routine checks.
  • Diabetes screening entails blood sugar measurement in an overnight fasting state, as well as after eating, and provides insight into the state of blood sugar regulation.
  • Cholesterol Assessment: Lipid profile – lipid profile assesses levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • LFT (Liver Health Evaluation): This helps observe abnormalities in the blood markers related to the liver.
  • Assessment of Kidney Function: BUN level and Urine Analysis give some valuable information pertaining to the functioning of the kidneys.
  • Thyroid Screening: Ultrasensitive TSH can be used to check the function of the thyroid gland.
  • CBC is used for Anaemia Screening: to detect low haemoglobin and other blood cell abnormalities.
  • Inflammation Assessment: ESR can aid in the detection of non-specific inflammatory changes.

Conditions Evaluated

Anaemia and Blood-Related Abnormalities

CBC contributes to evaluating haemoglobin, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. May aid in recognising a deficiency of red blood cells and other blood cell irregularities.

Diabetes and Blood Sugar Abnormalities

Fasting and postprandial glucose measurements are used to evaluate blood glucose and test for and monitor diabetes and prediabetes.

Cholesterol and Cardiovascular Risk Factors

The lipid profile is a blood test that checks the amount of various types of cholesterol and the amounts of other fatty substances called triglycerides, to the extent that these are associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease.

Liver-Related Abnormalities

LFTs aid in determining abnormalities within the liver enzymes and other chemical indicators which may be affected by various liver diseases.

Kidney and Urinary Abnormalities

The urine analysis results and BUN will give information that could assist in determining if there are kidney-related abnormalities, if there are changes in the urine, and if there are findings that need further investigation.

Thyroid Function Abnormalities

TSH levels can be used to help measure how well the thyroid works and, together with the thyroid examination and clinical information, can suggest hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.

Inflammatory Conditions

ESR is a non-specific marker which can be raised in other inflammatory/infective conditions. Does not diagnose any disease by itself.
