Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an advanced Histopathology Lab (NABL & NABH) that will serve you with state-of-the-art facilities in terms of diagnostics and Pathology services. A tissue sample is analysed using a microscope to obtain information about cell or tissue changes that can help a doctor diagnose many diseases and abnormalities in histopathology.
About Histopathology – 2 (Small)
Histopathology – 2 (Small) is the name given to the microscopic examination of a small sample of tissue to diagnose a condition. The tissue can be removed from the sample by making a small cut in the skin and then taking a sample of the tissue, a process known as biopsy, or by some other way to remove tissue for examination, and then sent to a laboratory for analysis. The processing, preservation, sectioning, and staining of the tissue are carried out appropriately. The prepared glass slides are looked at by a pathologist (a physician who has received special training in the pathology of the disease being examined), and he evaluates the tissue architecture, the characteristics of the cells, and the presence of abnormal cells. Findings enable the doctor treating the person to diagnose and formulate a further management plan.
What Is Histopathology?
Histopathology is the examination of tissues that have a disease or abnormal condition under a microscope. An important diagnostic tool for examining tissue structure to detect changes seen during inflammation, infection, benign growths, and malignancy. Laboratory processing usually consists of fixation, processing of tissue, embedding, sectioning, and staining of the tissue specimen. The slides are then examined by a pathologist who reads the slides and provides a diagnosis.
Common Reasons for Histopathology – 2 (Small)
Small tissue samples: To see if there are changes in a small area of tissue.
Moles or abnormal growths on the skin: To evaluate certain areas of skin development, moles, or other irregular growths.
Suggested for small lumps or nodules: To find out what type a lump or nodule is if it's been removed or biopsied.
Suspected infections: To assess tissue changes which could be due to certain infections.
Benign growths – check on non-cancerous lesions to make sure that the lesion is made up of the same kind of tissue as does a benign growth.
Suspected malignancy: If someone is suspicious that the tumor may have malignancy, then an attempt to find abnormal tissue change is made.
Post Procedure Evaluation: To allow studying specimens removed by selected minor surgical procedures.
Conditions Evaluated
Benign Tissue Lesions
Sometimes other local abnormalities, such as cysts or abnormal tissue growths (histopathology), may guide the diagnosis and determination of the type of problem.
Inflammatory Conditions
The microscopic examination of the tissue may reveal a pattern of acute inflammation or chronic inflammation, which can assist the doctor in his or her hunt for the cause.
Infective Conditions
If there are changes in tissue, this could be caused by bacterial and/or fungal infection, or by other infections. Additional stains/timings may be recommended as the clinical situation sees fit.
Precancerous Changes
Histopathological examination may identify abnormal changes in selected cells which may require further examination or treatment.
Malignant Conditions
The exam can help determine if the tissue changes are cancer and give information about the type and characteristics of a lesion.
Tissue Structural Abnormalities
The pathologist examines the pattern of cells and their organization within the tissue structure to identify any abnormalities that may be involved in the patient's symptoms.
Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL and NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre having all three modern healthcare services of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Pathology, working in tandem. Lab services at that pathology include well-established laboratories, up-to-date laboratory procedures, well-trained personnel, and accurate and reliable results. The purpose of this project is to provide supportive diagnosis for clinicians and patients.
Book Your Histopathology – 2 (Small)
If your doctor recommended that you submit a sample for Histopathology – 2 (Small) testing, for further information and details of what samples can be sent and the charges, please contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. If available, bring your prescription, relevant clinical history, tissue specimen, and previous investigation reports. For proper pathological evaluation, proper specimen collection and handling are important.
Test information: Fasting NOT needed
Reporting: Within 24 hours*
No fasting is required before this test.
Follow your doctor's instructions regarding tissue sample collection or biopsy.
Ensure that the tissue specimen is collected and preserved in an appropriate container, as advised by the healthcare professional.
Inform the doctor about any medicines you are taking, particularly blood thinners, and any known allergies or bleeding disorders if a biopsy is planned.
Carry your prescription, relevant clinical history, previous investigation reports, and biopsy details, if available.
If the tissue sample has already been collected, ensure it is properly labelled and transported to the laboratory according to the centre's instructions.
Do not attempt to collect or transfer the tissue specimen yourself unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional.
The tissue specimen is received at the laboratory along with the relevant clinical details and investigation records.
The laboratory team checks the specimen identification, labelling, and suitability for histopathological examination.
The tissue sample is preserved using an appropriate fixative to maintain its structure.
The specimen undergoes laboratory processing, followed by embedding in a suitable medium.
Thin sections of the processed tissue are prepared and placed on glass slides.
The slides are stained using appropriate techniques to make the tissue structures and cellular details visible under a microscope.
A qualified pathologist examines the prepared slides to assess tissue architecture, cellular characteristics, and any abnormal changes.
The findings are documented in a histopathology report for the treating doctor to review.
