About X-Ray Both Foot Lateral View

This is a specialized X-ray imaging technique that obtains images of the lateral (side) view of both feet. This view is very good for viewing the tarsal bones, metatarsals, phalanges, calcaneus (heel bone), and foot arches. When imaging both feet, doctors can typically compare the injured foot to the unaffected foot, making it easier for them to determine if there are any subtle differences or abnormalities in the foot. Advanced digital radiography systems are employed for Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy to provide high-resolution images for precise evaluation of foot injuries and disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system.

What is an X-Ray Both Foot Lateral View?

An X-ray Both Foot Lateral View is a painless, non-invasive image-taking procedure that takes X-rays of both feet laterally (on the side) to give a quick look at the bones and joints. The lateral view is useful in assessing osteologic patterns, foot arches, joint space, fractures, and degenerative changes not well demonstrated in frontal views. People who have pain, swelling, injury, or trouble walking in their feet are often examined for this condition.

Common Reasons for an X-Ray: Both Foot Lateral View

  • Foot injury following a fall or accident
  • Persistent pain in one or both feet
  • Suspected fractures
  • Swelling or tenderness of the feet
  • Difficulty walking or bearing weight
  • Evaluation of arthritis
  • Assessment of foot deformities
  • Follow-up after foot surgery or treatment

Conditions Evaluated

Foot Fractures

Detects fractures involving the metatarsals, phalanges, tarsal bones, or calcaneus.

Bone Lesions

Helps identify cysts, tumors, or other abnormalities involving the foot bones.
