X-RAY CERVICAL SPINE LATERAL VIEW FLEXION & EXTN.

1700

AT Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre, you can book the X-Ray Cervical Spine Lateral View Flexion & Extension. We use cutting-edge digital X-ray technology, which will give detailed information about the alignment, stability, and motion of the cervical spine when extended (bent backwards) as well as when extended (bent forwards).

Our expert radiologists take high-quality dynamic cervical spine imaging to ensure accurate diagnosis and timely reporting for optimal treatment planning.

About X-Ray Cervical Spine Lateral View Flexion & Extension

An X-Ray Cervical Spine Lateral View Flexion & Extension is a specific dynamic radiographic study that helps assess movement and stability of the cervical vertebrae. While the patient bends the neck forward (cervical flexion) and backwards (cervical extension), images are taken, permitting the doctors to identify any abnormal movement of the neck not captured by routine X-rays of the cervical spine.

In Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, this is done with the utilization of high-resolution digital radiography systems that deliver low radiation doses to achieve high-resolution images.

What is an X-Ray Cervical Spine Lateral View Flexion & Extension?

Movement examination is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging test that evaluates the cervical spine during movement. By comparing the position of the cervical vertebrae in extension to the position in flexion, it can be used to assess spinal alignment, integrity of the ligaments, the stability of the spine, and other degenerative factors.

The test is frequently ordered following neck injuries, when a person has chronic neck pain, and when it is suspected that the cervical spine may be unstable.

Common Reasons for an X-Ray Cervical Spine Lateral View Flexion & Extension

  • Evaluation of chronic neck pain
  • Assessment of cervical spine instability
  • Investigation after neck trauma or whiplash injury
  • Evaluation of ligament injuries
  • Assessment of cervical spondylosis
  • Follow-up after cervical spine surgery
  • Investigation of restricted neck movement
  • Evaluation of degenerative cervical spine disorders

Conditions Evaluated

Cervical Spine Instability

Detects excessive movement between cervical vertebrae that may indicate spinal instability.

Ligament Injuries

Helps identify abnormal motion caused by ligament damage following trauma.

Cervical Spondylosis

Evaluates degenerative changes affecting the cervical vertebrae and intervertebral joints.

Whiplash Injury

Assesses spinal alignment after sudden neck injuries caused by accidents.

Degenerative Disc Disease

Identifies changes associated with wear and tear of the cervical spine.

Post-Surgical Assessment

Monitors spinal alignment and stability following cervical spine surgery.

  • Experience neck stiffness or reduced mobility
  • Have suffered a road traffic accident or sports injury
  • Have suspected cervical spine instability
  • Require follow-up after cervical spine surgery
  • Experience numbness, tingling, or weakness related to neck disorders
