About X-Ray KUB
KUB Radiography (X-ray KUB) is a simple X-ray examination that is routinely used to evaluate the kidneys, ureters, and urinary bladder. It helps identify any abnormalities, such as urinary stones, urinary tract diseases, or calcification, or the formation of a ‘gas bubble' pattern in the bowels. Digital KUB X-ray is carried out with high-end imaging systems that provide high-level diagnostic images, while maintaining the comfort and safety of the patients.
What is an X-Ray KUB?
X-ray KUB is a rapid, painless, and nondestructive imaging examination used to get pictures of the abdomen, which is where the kidneys, ureters, and bladder are located. It is often performed if a person has abdominal or flank pain, blood in their urine, or if the person has been suspected of having urinary tract stones. This is also frequently ordered to help evaluate the motion of the kidney stone and monitor treatment.
Common Reasons for an X-Ray KUB
Suspected kidney stones
Flank or lower abdominal pain
Blood in the urine (hematuria)
Urinary tract obstruction
Follow-up of urinary stones
Evaluation of bladder stones
Assessment of abdominal calcifications
Monitoring after urological procedures
Conditions Evaluated
Kidney Stones
Detects radio-opaque stones within the kidneys that may cause pain or urinary obstruction.
Ureteric Stones
Identifies stones lodged in the ureters that may block urine flow.
Bladder Stones
Evaluates stones present within the urinary bladder.
Urinary Tract Calcifications
Detects abnormal calcium deposits within the urinary system.
Urinary Tract Obstruction
Helps identify signs associated with obstruction caused by stones or other abnormalities.
Abdominal Calcifications
Assesses calcifications involving surrounding abdominal organs and soft tissues.
