Book an advanced X-Ray Left Hip Joint AP & Lateral View scan, which is offered at an NABL and NABH-accredited diagnostic centre, Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. The high-tech digital X-ray offers advanced, detailed AP (front) and Lateral (side) views that aid in the diagnosis of fractures, dislocations, arthritis, degenerative joint diseases, and other illnesses of the hip joint. Our skilled radiologists provide high-precision imaging while using the least amount of radiation necessary and deliver prompt reporting to aid in the correct diagnosis and treatment planning.
About X-Ray Left Hip Joint AP & Lateral Views
X-Ray Left Hip Joint AP & Lateral Views is a specific type of X-ray imaging that takes two pictures of the left hip joint. The “anteroposterior” (AP) view is a front view, and the “lateral” view is a side view. These complementary views enable complete assessment of the femoral head, neck, acetabulum (hip socket), joint space, and the surrounding bones. Advanced digital radiography systems are employed at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy to get accurate high-resolution images to diagnose hip injuries and orthopedic conditions.
What is an X-Ray Left Hip Joint AP & Lateral Views?
X-Ray Left Hip Joint AP & Lateral Views is an imaging test that is quick, painless, and non-invasive, which is used to examine the bones and joints of the left hip. AP and lateral projections are combined for the best diagnosis of fractures, joint dislocations, arthritis, bone abnormalities, and degenerative changes from different angles. This exam is sometimes performed on individuals with pain, injury, stiffness, or trouble walking in the left hip.
Common Reasons for an X-Ray Left Hip Joint AP & Lateral Views
Persistent left hip pain
Injury following a fall or accident
Suspected hip fracture
Hip dislocation
Difficulty walking or bearing weight
Hip stiffness or reduced range of motion
Evaluation of osteoarthritis
Follow-up after hip surgery or treatment
Conditions Evaluated
Hip Fractures
Detects fractures involving the femoral head, femoral neck, acetabulum, or upper femur.
Hip Dislocation
Evaluates displacement or abnormal alignment of the left hip joint.
Osteoarthritis
Assesses joint space narrowing, bone spurs, and degenerative changes.
Avascular Necrosis (AVN)
Helps identify changes caused by reduced blood supply to the femoral head.
Congenital Hip Abnormalities
Evaluates developmental abnormalities affecting the hip joint.
Post-Traumatic and Post-Surgical Changes
Monitors healing following fractures, hip replacement, or other orthopedic procedures.
Who Should Consider This X-Ray?
Your doctor may recommend this examination if you:

The patient is positioned lying on the X-ray table or standing, depending on the clinical requirement and the radiographer's instructions.
Anteroposterior (AP) and Lateral views of the left hip joint are obtained to evaluate the femoral head, femoral neck, acetabulum (hip socket), hip joint space, and surrounding bony structures.
The AP view provides a frontal image, while the lateral view provides a side profile, allowing assessment of fractures, dislocations, arthritis, avascular necrosis (AVN), degenerative joint disease, and other hip abnormalities.
The radiographer may gently position or rotate the left leg to obtain the most accurate diagnostic images, provided it is safe and comfortable for the patient.
You will be asked to remain completely still while each X-ray image is taken to ensure sharp, high-quality images.
Additional X-ray views may be obtained if required for a more comprehensive evaluation.
The examination is quick, painless, non-invasive, and does not require contrast material.
The procedure usually takes 10–15 minutes.
Reports are generally available within 04 hours
