About X-Ray Right Hand AP & Oblique Views

An imaging study called an X-Ray Right Hand AP & Oblique Views is a specialized imaging study that takes two images of the right hand. There are two views: Anteroposterior (AP), which is a frontal view, and the Oblique view, which is an angled view that offers a wider angle of the hand bones and joints. These views give a complete examination of the phalanges, metacarpal bones, carpal bones, wrist, finger joints, and other bones. Here at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, we have the latest digital radiography equipment to provide high-resolution images for the proper assessment of hand trauma and the musculoskeletal system.

What is an X-Ray Right Hand AP & Oblique Views?

An X-Ray Right Hand AP & Oblique Views is a quick and painless, non-invasive imaging test that is done to assess the bones and joints of the right hand. Medical use is in conjunction with AP projections to allow the physician to evaluate bone alignment, fractures, joint dislocation, and hand degenerative or inflammatory changes. This is a typically ordered exam in cases of hand pain, swelling, trauma, limited motion, or inability to use the hand.

Common Reasons for an X-Ray Right Hand AP & Oblique Views

  • Persistent hand pain
  • Suspected hand fracture
  • Finger or joint dislocation
  • Swelling or tenderness in the hand
  • Difficulty moving fingers
  • Evaluation of arthritis
  • Follow-up after hand surgery or fracture treatment
