About X-Ray Right Shoulder Joint Axial View
X-Ray Right Shoulder Joint Axial View is one of the specialized radiology X-ray examinations that shows a special view of the right shoulder joint. This view offers a detailed view of the relationship between the head of the humerus and the glenoid cavity, as well as assessing the acromion, clavicle, scapulae, and the surrounding bones. In Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, we employ state-of-the-art digital radiography technology to capture high-resolution images, enabling accurate assessments of musculoskeletal conditions around the shoulders and shoulder injuries.
What is an X-Ray Right Shoulder Joint Axial View?
An X-ray Right Shoulder Joint Axial View is a radiation imaging technique that is quick, painless, and non-invasive to assess the alignment and structure of the right shoulder joint. By looking at the axial projection, doctors can examine the position of the joints, look for fractures, check for dislocations, and see how the bones are changed in the shoulder. Generally, this examination is suggested when a person experiences shoulder pain, trauma, swelling, stiffness, and limited arm movement.
Common Reasons for an X-Ray Right Shoulder Joint Axial View
Right shoulder injury following a fall or accident
Suspected shoulder dislocation
Persistent shoulder pain
Difficulty moving the arm
Swelling or tenderness around the shoulder joint
Evaluation of fractures involving the shoulder bones
Assessment of joint alignment
Follow-up after shoulder surgery or injury treatment
Conditions Evaluated
Shoulder Dislocation
Evaluates abnormal positioning or displacement of the humeral head from the glenoid cavity.
Shoulder Fractures
Detects fractures involving the humeral head, proximal humerus, glenoid cavity, clavicle, and scapular structures.
Joint Alignment Abnormalities
Assesses the relationship between the humeral head and shoulder socket.
Osteoarthritis
Evaluates degenerative changes such as joint space narrowing and bone spur formation.
Bone Lesions
Helps identify cysts, tumors, infections, or other abnormalities affecting shoulder bones.
Post-Traumatic and Post-Surgical Changes
Monitors healing after fractures, shoulder injuries, or orthopedic procedures.
Who Should Consider This X-Ray?
Your doctor may recommend this examination if you:
Have persistent pain in the right shoulder
Have suffered trauma or injury to the shoulder
Experience restricted shoulder movement
Have suspected shoulder dislocation or fracture
Need follow-up imaging after treatment or surgery
Require evaluation before an orthopedic consultation

The patient is positioned standing, sitting, or lying down, depending on their condition and the radiographer's instructions.
An Axial View of the right shoulder joint is obtained to clearly evaluate the relationship between the humeral head and the glenoid cavity, along with the acromion, clavicle, scapula, and adjacent bony structures.
This specialised projection is particularly useful for assessing shoulder dislocations, fractures, joint alignment abnormalities, degenerative changes, bone lesions, and post-traumatic or post-surgical conditions.
Proper positioning of the shoulder and arm is maintained to obtain accurate, high-quality diagnostic images. If movement is painful, the radiographer will position the arm carefully to minimise discomfort.
You will be asked to remain completely still while the X-ray image is captured to prevent motion blur.
Additional X-ray views may be obtained if required for a more comprehensive evaluation.
The examination is quick, painless, non-invasive, and does not require contrast material.
The procedure usually takes 10–15 minutes.
Reports are generally available within 04 hours*.
