Book an X-ray right wrist AP & lateral view at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre, the best centre to get advanced Radiology & Pathology services. The power of our digitally enhanced X-ray technology is that it takes a high-resolution 'front-on' (AP) and side-on (Lateral) view of the right wrist to help doctors diagnose fractures, dislocations, arthritis, bone abnormalities, and other conditions of the wrist joint. Our experienced radiologists provide clear fixation of images with the minimum radiation dosage and provide prompt reports, which help to make an accurate diagnosis and to plan the appropriate treatment.
About X-Ray Right Wrist AP & Lateral Views
An X-ray Right Wrist AP & Lateral Views is a study of the AP (Frontal) and Lateral (Side) X-ray of the Right wrist joint. The view of the wrist features the front of the wrist (labeled the Anteroposterior (AP) view), or the side of the wrist (labeled the Lateral view). Overall, these views depict a thorough assessment of the radius and ulna, carpal bones, space in the wrist, distal forearm, and surrounding bone points. At Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, our high-tech digital X-ray machine, or digital radiography machines, will capture detailed images of your wrist to help us determine the nature of your injury or any musculoskeletal (bones, muscles, and joints) issues accurately.
What is an X-Ray Right Wrist AP & Lateral Views?
Right Wrist X-Ray AP and lateral is an easy, painless, and non-invasive radiology scan that can be used to investigate bones and joints of the right wrist. AP (recumbent) and lateral views were useful in assessing the straightness of bones, fractures of bones, joint dislocation, and for evaluation of degenerative or inflammatory conditions of the wrist. This test is usually recommended for people with wrist pain or swelling, an injury, a reduction in hand movement, or difficulty performing hand activities.
Common Reasons for an X-Ray Right Wrist AP & Lateral Views
Right wrist injury following a fall or accident
Persistent wrist pain
Suspected wrist fracture
Swelling or tenderness around the wrist
Difficulty moving the wrist or hand
Evaluation of arthritis
Assessment of bone alignment
Follow-up after wrist surgery or fracture treatment
Conditions Evaluated
Wrist Fractures
Detects fractures involving the radius, ulna, scaphoid, and other carpal bones of the wrist.
Joint Dislocation
Evaluates abnormal alignment or displacement of wrist joints.
Osteoarthritis
Assesses joint space narrowing, bone spurs, and degenerative changes affecting the wrist.
Bone Lesions
Helps identify cysts, tumors, infections, or other abnormalities affecting wrist bones.
Bone Alignment Abnormalities

The patient is positioned sitting beside the X-ray table with the right forearm and wrist placed on the imaging detector according to the radiographer's instructions.
Anteroposterior (AP) and Lateral Views of the right wrist are obtained to evaluate the distal radius, distal ulna, carpal bones, radiocarpal joint, distal radioulnar joint, wrist joint space, and surrounding bony structures.
These complementary views help assess wrist fractures, joint dislocations, osteoarthritis, bone alignment abnormalities, bone lesions, post-traumatic changes, and other musculoskeletal conditions affecting the right wrist.
Proper positioning of the wrist is maintained to obtain clear visualisation of the bones and joints with minimal overlap.
You will be asked to remain completely still while each X-ray image is taken to ensure sharp, high-quality images.
Additional X-ray views may be obtained if required for a more comprehensive assessment.
The examination is quick, painless, non-invasive, and does not require contrast material.
The procedure usually takes 10–15 minutes.
Reports are generally available within 04 hours.
