About X-Ray S.I. Joints Both Oblique Views
X-ray S.I. Joints Both Oblique Views is an X-ray examination that uses a specialized technique to obtain oblique views of both the L5-S1 and S1-S2 SI joints. These joints join the sacrum, at the base of the spine, with the iliac bones of the pelvis. Views taken in oblique planes have the advantage of a better perspective of joint spaces than standard AP views and are frequently collected for the evaluation of pain, inflammation, injury, or degenerative disease. A great effort is made in Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy to high resolution imaging using advanced digital imaging systems for accurate evaluation of sacroiliac joint disorders.
What is an X-Ray S.I. Joints Both Oblique Views?
An X-Ray S.I. Joints Both Oblique Views involves imaging of both sacroiliac joints, is quick, non-invasive and painless, and is used to assess the structure, alignment and condition of both S.I. joints. It can detect inflammation, narrowing, sclerosis, fractures, and other abnormalities in the pelvis and on the lower spine. This test is often ordered when a patient suffers from chronic back pain, pelvic pain, or the possibility of chronic inflammatory joint disease.
