Book your X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View from a top Radiology & Pathology center. Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostics Centre offering the best possible solution. Our Digital X-ray allows for top-quality images of the LAT (front-to-back) view of the sacrum (base and back of the pelvis), which helps the physician examine lower spine and pelvic abnormalities such as fractures, congenital abnormalities, degenerative changes, and much more. Our skilled radiologists utilize equipment for imaging with the highest resolution possible, using minimal radiation exposure, and deliver an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan through timely reporting.
About X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View
X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View is a special type of digital X-ray that takes a side (lateral) view of the sacrum (this triangular bone at the bottom of the spine at the back between the Lumbosacral (L5) vertebrae and the coccyx (tail bone). This side view clearly shows the sacral vertebrae, the sacrococcygeal junction, the lower lumbar spine, and other bony structures. In Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, our patient receives high-quality diagnostic images using the latest digital radiography technology, and our doctors use them to properly diagnose sacral injuries and spine disorders.
What is an X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View?
The X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View is a rapid, sophisticated, and non-invasive imaging procedure for a lateral view of the sacrum, administered from the side. Useful for detecting fractures or degenerative changes, congenital abnormalities, infections, tumors, and alignment problems in the lower back and pelvis. The exam is often ordered for people who have pain in the lower back, trauma to the pelvis, pain from the tailbone, and/or possible sacral issues.
Common Reasons for an X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View
Lower back or sacral pain
Injury following a fall or accident
Suspected sacral fracture
Tailbone (coccyx) pain
Difficulty sitting due to pain
Evaluation of congenital spinal abnormalities
Assessment of degenerative spinal changes
Follow-up after fracture treatment or surgery
Conditions Evaluated
Sacral Fractures
Detects fractures involving the sacrum resulting from trauma or stress injuries.
Degenerative Changes
Assesses age-related degeneration affecting the sacrum and adjacent spinal structures.
Sacrococcygeal Abnormalities
Evaluates the alignment and condition of the sacrum and coccyx.
Bone Lesions
Helps identify bone cysts, tumors, infections, or other abnormalities affecting the sacrum.
Congenital Abnormalities
Evaluates developmental defects involving the sacrum and lower spine.
Post-Traumatic and Post-Surgical Changes
Monitors healing after fractures, orthopedic procedures, or spinal surgery.
Who Should Consider This X-Ray?
Your doctor may recommend this examination if you:
Have persistent lower back or sacral pain
Have suffered trauma to the pelvis or lower spine
Experience tailbone pain or discomfort while sitting
Have suspected sacral fractures or abnormalities
Need follow-up imaging after treatment or surgery
Require evaluation before orthopedic or spine consultation

No special preparation is required for an X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the lower back and pelvic region during the examination.
Inform the radiology staff if you are pregnant or may be pregnant before undergoing the X-ray examination.
Remove any metal objects such as belts, jewellery, keys, or other accessories around the pelvic and lower back area, as they may interfere with image quality.
Inform your doctor or radiology technician about any previous sacral fractures, spinal surgeries, implants, or orthopedic procedures.
Carry previous imaging reports such as X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, or related medical records, if available, for comparison and detailed evaluation.
Follow the instructions provided by the radiology technician regarding body positioning to obtain accurate lateral images of the sacrum.
Arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled appointment for registration and examination preparation.
X-Ray Sacrum Lateral View
The patient is positioned on the X-ray table to obtain the required Lateral View of the sacrum and sacrococcygeal region.
The radiology technician carefully adjusts the patient's position to capture a clear side view of the sacral vertebrae, sacrococcygeal junction, lower lumbar spine, and surrounding bony structures.
A modern digital X-ray system captures high-resolution images using a controlled amount of radiation.
The patient may be asked to remain still and briefly hold the position during image acquisition to prevent motion blur.
The examination is quick, painless, and generally completed within a few minutes.
The radiologist reviews the images to evaluate sacral fractures, degenerative changes, alignment abnormalities, bone lesions, congenital defects, and other pelvic or spinal conditions.
After detailed image analysis, the final report is prepared and is generally available within 04 hours.
