About X-Ray Skull Townes View
X-ray Skull Townes View is a special imaging technique that allows the imaging of the back skull, the petrous ridges, posterior skull, and the Foramen Magnum. This type of projection is frequently used for the assessment of disease in the base of the skull, congenital anomalies, and trauma. At Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, we have sophisticated digital radiography systems that deliver a high level of detail for a precise diagnosis of abnormalities in the skull.
What is an X-Ray Skull Townes View?
An X-Ray skull Townes view is a rapid, painless, and non-invasive imaging test with the X-Ray beam angled to give a detailed image of the back of the skull. Used to enable doctors to take a closer look at parts of the skull that may not show up if they're captured during standard skull X-rays. The examination is often performed if there is a need to make a detailed assessment of the occipital region or skull base.
Common Reasons for an X-Ray Skull Townes View
Head injury or trauma
Suspected occipital bone fracture
Evaluation of skull base abnormalities
Persistent pain at the back of the head
Assessment of congenital skull defects
Investigation of bone lesions or tumors
Follow-up after skull surgery or treatment
Evaluation of developmental abnormalities
Conditions Evaluated
Occipital Bone Fractures
Detects fractures involving the back portion of the skull.
Skull Base Abnormalities
Evaluates structural abnormalities involving the base of the skull.
Congenital Skull Disorders
Assesses developmental abnormalities affecting the cranial bones.
Bone Lesions
Helps identify cysts, tumors, or other bony abnormalities.
Calcifications
Detects abnormal calcified areas involving the posterior skull.
Post-Traumatic Changes
