At Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre, we offer advanced Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging services. An X-Ray B/L Orbit LAT View can be conducted. This X-ray is used to provide lateral views of both orbits (the bony cavities where eyes are located). This can help to evaluate the bony structures of the orbits and identify certain abnormalities.
X-Ray B/L Orbit LAT View is a specialized radiographic examination used to evaluate the bony structures surrounding both eyes. The lateral view provides a side projection of the orbital region and may help demonstrate selected bony abnormalities, fractures, or other structural changes. This examination may be requested as part of an assessment following facial trauma or when a doctor needs specific radiographic information about the orbital region. The appropriate imaging method depends on the clinical concern and the referring doctor's recommendation.
X-ray uses minimal ionising radiation to create images of the bones. The lateral view will provide a side-on view of the orbits. Whilst this is a view of both orbits, what can be seen depends on how the patient is positioned and the type of imaging used. X-rays do have limitations when assessing soft tissue in the eye and orbit and may not provide the detail needed. In some cases, a CT or MRI may be recommended.
Facial Injury Assessment: Imaging support when orbital involvement is suspected after facial trauma.
Bony Structural Abnormalities: Assessment of selected abnormalities affecting the bones surrounding the eyes.
Clinical Follow-Up: Additional radiographic evaluation when specifically requested by a treating doctor.
Preliminary Orbital Assessment: Limited evaluation of visible bony structures when this projection is considered appropriate.
The lateral view may help demonstrate selected abnormalities involving the visible bony structures around the eyes.
Some fractures may be visible on X-ray. However, if the X-ray is normal, this does not rule out an orbital fracture. CT is generally the preferred investigation if detailed imaging is required.
The examination provides a side projection of visible orbital and adjacent facial bone contours, helping assess selected structural changes.
If this investigation is requested due to trauma to the face, it can provide some information about the orbits. Further imaging may be required depending on symptoms.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre. We provide Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology services. We provide high-quality imaging with the correct investigations, high quality imaging, expert knowledge and patient-focused care.
If your doctor has recommended an X-Ray B/L Orbit LAT View, then please contact us for further details. Please bring your prescription and any previous imaging of the orbits or face. If you have any trauma to your eye, please let our radiology department know, as this may affect what investigation is performed.
