Advanced Radiology and Diagnostic imaging services are provided at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy at NABL & NABH-accredited Digital OPG X-ray. Digital Orthopantomogram (OPG) is a type of panoramic dental radiograph that provides dentists with useful information about the health status of the oral cavity, planning of treatment, and dental and jaw disorders.
Digital OPG is a special dental X-ray examination that renders a comprehensive dental evaluation of the structures of the mouth and jaws in a single image. It is usually recommended to examine the teeth, jaws, and the surrounding anatomical structures. This test can be helpful in general dental or other dental examinations, orthodontics, and oral surgery. It also helps dentists determine tooth development and whether there is any impacted tooth, irregularity in the jaw, and any additional research or therapy that may be required.
X-ray imaging technique that orbits the head to get a panoramic view showing both jaws and most of the teeth in one shot. Digital OPG is an imaging technology that results in a digital image and may be used by a dentist for a diagnostic assessment and for treatment planning. The examination is relatively rapid, is non-invasive to the patient, and uses a smaller dose of ionizing radiation to the patient than many radiographic examinations.
OPG imaging can aid in the detection of teeth that haven't erupted correctly, such as the wisdom teeth. It gives an idea of their location and could assist the dentist in deciding whether or not more testing is necessary.
The overall panoramic image may show a few dental features and can help detect some dental issues, such as suspected root changes, as further areas for investigation.
Digital OPG offers a tremendous amount of views of both the upper and lower jaw bones. It can be helpful in identifying changes in bone structure, suspect lesions, and other bone findings that need further investigation.
Scans allow your dental care provider or orthodontist to determine how your teeth are developing, whether any teeth are starting to grow in, the patterns in the teeth, and the general location of your teeth and jaws throughout the treatment planning process.
In most cases, an OPG x-ray can be helpful to determine the direction, growth, and location of wisdom teeth and the space or contact that they have with the rest of their teeth and bones.
The test may reveal the unexpected discovery of abnormal regions within the jaw that could be cysts or other abnormalities. Characterisation by additional imaging or clinical assessment may be required.
The panoramic image includes the general regions of the jaw joints and may show certain bony abnormalities. Dedicated imaging may be necessary when a more detailed assessment of the temporomandibular joints is required.
OPG can assist with the treatment planning of certain dental procedures. Further imaging might be required according to clinical need.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is a NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre which provides services in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Pathology. Our diagnostic imaging services are based on having adequate imaging protocols, capturing the images accurately, ensuring the patient's comfort, and being able to report the images accurately. Inform patients what is being done during the procedure to ensure the procedure runs smoothly and efficiently.
If you have been referred by your dentist to have an OPG X-Ray, then book your OPG appointment at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. Bring a prescription from your dentist and dental reports from all appointments; if possible, bring old dental photos. A panoramic image can assist your dentist in better understanding the state of your teeth and jaws, and assist them in making a further evaluation and/or treatment plan if necessary.
