X-RAY INFANTOGRAM

₹1875

Advanced radiology and diagnostic imaging services offered under the NABL & NABH accreditation framework, with Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. One study of the body in an infant that may also include an X-ray of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis is called an infantogram. Useful for making a selection of diagnoses of various congenital abnormalities, skeletal structures, and clinical conditions in newborns and children when indicated medically.

About X-Ray Infantogram

X-ray Infantogram- radiographic examination to get an overall radiograph of the body structures of an infant. It is commonly requested when performing a neonatal exam or other exams that require the evaluation of multiple anatomical regions simultaneously. Depending on the clinical indication and imaging protocol, imaging studies can be performed of the chest, abdomen, pelvis, and/or any visible skeletal areas. It could help to localize and examine bones and organs and thus may help with the diagnosis of some abnormalities that would require further examination.

What is X-Ray Infantogram?

It is usually performed in the optimal position for the baby's benefit to capture images to meet the requirements and minimize exposure to radiation to the baby's body. Depending on the views obtained, the resulting pictures might also be used to explore the lungs, gas pattern in the abdomen, bowel distribution, bones, and other areas viewed. The level and the type of test that the doctor may employ vary with the doctor's requirement and/or the imaging protocol of the centre of practice.

Common Reasons for X-Ray Infantogram

  • Congenital Abnormalities: Assessment of selected structural abnormalities present at birth.
  • Skeletal Assessment: Evaluation of visible bones for suspected deformities or other abnormalities.
  • Neonatal Evaluation: Imaging support for newborns when a broad radiographic assessment is clinically indicated.
  • Abdominal Symptoms: Investigation of selected abdominal conditions, including abnormal bowel gas patterns.
  • Chest Assessment: Evaluation of visible lung and chest structures when included in the requested examination.
  • Suspected Bone Abnormalities: Assessment of skeletal changes or suspected injuries when clinically appropriate.
  • Follow-Up Imaging: Review of previously identified abnormalities when repeat radiography is recommended.
  • Clinical Assessment in Neonatal Care: Additional imaging information to support the treating team's evaluation.

Conditions Evaluated

Skeletal Abnormalities

Your doctor might take an infantogram to help him more clearly see the bones that will be included in the image and to confirm some bone abnormalities, deformities, or structural changes.

Chest and Lung Findings

If the chest is included, the images might be helpful to evaluate the appearance of the lungs, chest structures, and diaphragm for selected abnormalities.

Abdominal Gas Pattern

Depending upon the clinical history, the abdominal pictures may provide data on the distribution of bowel gases and may help to identify some of the findings that require further analysis.

Bone Alignment and Development

The image provides a general overview of bone alignment and some selected aspects of the anatomy of the bones. Additional specialized views of the X-rays might be needed to get an in-depth look at a single bone or joint.

Follow-Up of Previously Identified Findings

If a baby's doctor requires additional images of some of the baby's problems to check how things are growing or changing, an infantogram might be performed.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an accredited Medical Diagnostic Centre under NABL and NABH accredited diagnostic centre, and is a specialization in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology. We focus on imaging with Proper exam protocols, quality Xray imaging, Expert professional imaging, and patient-centered care. Correct positioning and procedures that ensure radiation safety play an important role in infant imaging.

Book Your X-Ray Infantogram

Please contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy for more information on when and how to schedule an X-Ray Infantogram. Bring the prescription and imaging history (if available) to the imaging team to understand the clinical need.

Test information: Fasting NOT needed

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Usually, no fasting is required.
  • Inform the radiology staff about the baby’s medical history, current symptoms, and any previous imaging examinations.
  • Bring the doctor’s prescription, previous X-ray reports, and other relevant medical records, if available.
  • Inform the staff if the baby has any medical devices or support equipment that may affect positioning.
  • Remove clothing or objects covering the areas to be examined, as instructed by the radiology staff.
  • Inform the staff if the baby may be pregnant (not applicable; ensure the staff knows the infant’s age and relevant clinical details.
  • Follow the staff’s instructions for safely positioning and comforting the baby during the examination.
