Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy offers advanced level of Radiology services and diagnostic imaging in an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre which provides an X-Ray Neutral examination. This special X-ray will be performed in a neutral (or relaxed) position per instructions from the physician to observe the position and structure of the body part of interest.
About X-Ray Neutral
An X-ray Neutral is an imaging test that puts the patient's body in a neutral or relaxed position to get the required X-rays. The examination may help assess the alignment, anatomical relationships, and bone structure of the selected body part. Weight-bearing or stress-related assessment requires specific positioning and should not be assumed in a neutral-position examination.
What is X-Ray Neutral?
X-ray imaging is a low-dose method of ionizing radiation to generate an image of the internal structure, especially of the bones and joints. The patient's position while being examined is relaxed and natural, which allows doctors to get images that depict the structures in a resting state, in a neutral-view examination. The exam, guided by the type of area involved, can aid in the evaluation of bone alignment, joint spaces, structural abnormalities, and placement.
Common Reasons for X-Ray Neutral
Indication of alignment: Assessment of the normal alignment and/or positioning of bones and/or joints.
Joint Evaluation: When the joint is relaxed, to view joints and their relationship with structures.
Pain or discomfort assessment: An X-ray may be recommended to evaluate the bones and joints of the affected body region, depending on the clinical indication.
Post-Injury Assessment: To evaluate a bone or a joint post-injury, as instructed.
Degenerative changes: To assess certain structural changes associated with degenerative joint conditions, such as joint-space narrowing and osteophyte formation.
Post-treatment/Follow-Up: To determine if there are any post-treatment alignment and/or structural changes since the treatment and/or surgery, as clinically indicated.
Comparative imaging: Neutral-position images may be used as reference views for comparison with other views or previous examinations, when clinically indicated.
Conditions Evaluated
Bone Alignment
Taking an X-ray could be helpful when thinking about the position and direction of the bones in the area of interest (neutral position).
Joint Space Abnormalities
Images can play a part in the evaluation of joint spaces and identification of some structural changes like narrowing or changes in regularity.
Degenerative Changes
Some of the features of a degenerative condition, such as loss of the joint space, formation of osteophytes, and changes in the shape of bones, may be visualized with X-ray.
Bone Injuries
Depending on the area of the body being examined, X-rays may be useful for making it easier to determine whether there are any abnormalities in the bone or if it is broken or dislocated.
Structural Abnormalities
It can also provide clues as to the position and form of the body part examined, which helps with its clinical assessment.

Book Your X-Ray Neutral
Please contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy with the following information: Body Part, Views, Date of Exam, and Exam Information if referred for an X-Ray Neutral exam by your physician. Imaging reports and prescriptions from previous examinations are required.
Test information: Usually, no fasting is required.
Reporting: Within 24 hours*
Fasting is usually not required before the examination.
Bring the doctor's prescription and any previous X-ray images or relevant medical reports, if available.
Confirm the exact body part and the required views mentioned in the prescription.
Inform the radiographer about any recent injury, surgery, pain, or difficulty maintaining the required position.
Remove jewellery, metal objects, or clothing accessories from the area being examined, if instructed.
Inform the radiographer if you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant.
Follow the radiographer's instructions and maintain a relaxed, natural position during image acquisition.
Do not attempt stress or weight-bearing positions unless specifically advised by the doctor.
You will be asked to sit, stand, or lie down, depending on the body part being examined and the doctor's instructions.
The radiographer will position the selected body part in a neutral or relaxed position.
The X-ray equipment will be adjusted to capture the required view of the bones, joints, and surrounding structures.
You will be asked to remain still during image acquisition to avoid blurring.
The exposure generally takes only a few seconds for each image.
The radiographer will check the images for clarity and may take additional views if required.
A radiologist will review the images to assess bone alignment, joint spaces, and any visible structural abnormalities.
