The advanced digital Electrocardiogram (ECG) system accurately and efficiently captures the function of your heart's electrical activity, enabling physicians to diagnose heart rhythm disorders, heart attacks, and many other heart-related conditions. The test is carried out by our experienced cardiologists and trained technicians with precision and provides timely reports for early diagnosis and good planning of treatment.
About ECG (Electrocardiogram) Test
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, non-invasive diagnostic procedure that measures the electrical activity of the heart on each of its beats. To record the electrical signals, small adhesive electrodes are placed on the chest, arms, and legs that are recorded and shown on a polarised display for evaluation. We at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy leverage cutting-edge digital ECG technology to make accurate recordings that enable us to better evaluate heart rate, heart rhythm, and cardiac function.
What is an ECG (Electrocardiogram) Test?
ECG Test is a speedy, painless test to check whether the heart is functioning normally. It helps determine if there is some irregularity in the heart's rhythm, if there has been a prior or current heart attack, and to test for a heart condition. The test typically lasts 5 to 7 minutes and is a relatively early test that is ordered when a person has chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, or shortness of breath.
Common Reasons for an ECG Test
Chest pain or discomfort
Palpitations or irregular heartbeat
Shortness of breath
Dizziness or fainting
Suspected heart attack
High blood pressure evaluation
Routine cardiac health check-up
Pre-operative cardiac assessment
Monitoring known heart disease
Conditions Evaluated
Cardiac Arrhythmias
Detects irregular heart rhythms such as atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, and other rhythm abnormalities.
Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)
Helps identify signs of a current or previous heart attack by detecting characteristic changes in the heart's electrical activity.
Coronary Artery Disease
Provides information that may suggest reduced blood flow to the heart muscle.
Heart Enlargement
May indicate enlargement of the heart chambers caused by hypertension or other cardiac disorders.
Electrolyte Imbalances
Can detect changes in heart electrical activity caused by abnormal potassium, calcium, or other electrolyte levels.
Monitoring Heart Conditions
Assists in monitoring patients with existing heart disease, pacemakers, or those receiving cardiac medications.
Who Should Consider This Test?
Your doctor may recommend an ECG Test if you:
Experience chest pain or tightness
Have palpitations or irregular heartbeat
Feel dizzy or have fainting episodes
Have high blood pressure
Have a family history of heart disease
Need a pre-operative cardiac evaluation
Require routine monitoring of heart conditions

Test information: Fasting NOT needed.
Reporting: Within 24 hours*
No fasting or special dietary preparation is required for the ECG (Electrocardiogram) Test.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the chest, arms, and legs for electrode placement.
Avoid applying lotions, creams, oils, or powders on the chest on the day of the examination, as they may interfere with proper electrode attachment.
Inform your doctor about any heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders, or other significant medical conditions.
Inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking, especially heart medications, blood pressure medicines, or anti-arrhythmic drugs.
Inform the technician if you have a pacemaker, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), or any other implanted cardiac device.
Carry previous ECG, Echocardiography, Holter Monitor, TMT, Angiography reports, cardiac prescriptions, or other relevant medical records, if available, for comparison and accurate evaluation.
Remain relaxed and avoid unnecessary movement or talking during the examination to ensure accurate recording of the heart's electrical activity.
Arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled appointment for registration and preparation.
ECG (Electrocardiogram) Test
The patient is asked to lie comfortably on the examination table in a relaxed position.
Small adhesive electrodes are attached to the chest, arms, and legs after cleaning the skin to ensure proper electrical contact.
The electrodes are connected to a digital Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine, which records the electrical activity generated by each heartbeat.
The patient is instructed to remain still, breathe normally, and avoid talking or moving during the recording to prevent interference with the ECG tracing.
The ECG machine records the heart's electrical activity from multiple leads within a few minutes.
The examination is safe, painless, non-invasive, and does not involve radiation exposure.
The cardiologist evaluates the ECG tracing to identify cardiac arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, myocardial infarction (heart attack), coronary artery disease, heart enlargement, conduction abnormalities, electrolyte imbalance-related changes, and other cardiac conditions.
After interpretation by the cardiologist, the final report is generally available immediately or within 30 minutes.
