As a NABL- and NABH-accredited diagnostic centre, we provide ECG services as part of our diagnostic tests to promote heart health, Molecular Diagnostics, and Therapy. Electrocardiographic testing is performed at the patient's home by ECG Homecare, and the patient's ECG is recorded without the need to go to a diagnostic centre.
ECG Homecare is a simple analysis for those who have to take an Electrocardiogram (ECG) at home. It's particularly helpful for those who are old or may have limited mobility, or who are ill or unable to get to a diagnostic centre. During this time, Electrodes are placed on the skin, sometimes with conductive gel, to record the heart's electrical activity. This recording can be helpful in assessing the heart rate, rhythm, and some electrical abnormalities.
An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a non-invasive test that measures the electricity the heart is generating as it beats through the skin with electrodes. The 12-lead ECG provides different directions of the electrical current of the heart. ECG Homecare records ECG at home using portable ECG equipment. It is painless, does not involve ionizing radiation, and is faster. Your ECG Homecare will provide useful information for your regular heart assessment and for selected symptoms. An ECG will record the electrical signals generated by the heart when it is measured; it will not detect all types of heart disease.
An ECG record can help determine whether the heart beating or pumping is either too fast or too slow, as it should be. The findings, collectively with the patient's symptoms, age history, medication history, and medical history, are analysed.
If the heart rhythm abnormalities are present at the time of the test, ECG may assist in revealing the rhythm abnormality (such as atrial fibrillation) and some other arrhythmias.
ECG changes can involve changes in the electrical conduction system of the heart: some conduction blocks may be seen, as well as other electrical changes.
Poor blood flow to the heart tissues can show up in some ECGs (electrocardiograms). Findings require a clinical interpretation and may be a call for a prompt evaluation or additional studies, depending upon the patient's symptoms.
For some patients who are suffering from heart disease, an ECG Homecare could prove to be beneficial instead of having their ECG documented for follow-up as recommended by their caring physician.
Some drugs can affect the heart rate, rhythm, or space between heartbeats. It may be helpful for the healthcare provider to request the readings of certain changes on an ECG.
An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart at one point in time. The recording can be compared with earlier ECGs to check for changes that need to be investigated further.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL and NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre with a diagnostic facility that is based on four simple principles: the right diagnosis, care for the patient, and generation of a reliable report. All results that require patient testing at home will be made more attainable through our homecare service. Additional information like time of availability, service area, appointment time, and reporting details will be finalized during booking of the visit.
Please contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy if you require an ECG at home (routine assessment, follow-up, or referred by a doctor) to determine if homecare is available, where and how it will be booked. Make sure the visiting team has access to the doctor's prescription, previous ECG recordings, reports, and relevant medical records supplied.-
Test information: Usually, no fasting is required.
Reporting: Within 24 hours*
