Diagnostic Centre, NABL & NABH Accredited Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy provides you a chance to check your X-Ray Both Calcaneum (Heels), AP and LAT View. Advanced diagnostics and radiology services are available. This imaging test enables your healthcare provider to view the bones on the side and front of the heel and to diagnose bone fractures, bony protrusion of the heel bone (known as a heel spur), and other abnormalities that can lead to heel pain, swelling, or trouble walking.
An X-ray study of the AP and LAT views of the calcaneum is a diagnostic radiologic test that evaluates the large bone that makes up the heel of each foot. Both Anteroposterior (AP) and lateral (LAT) views give information regarding the structure, shape, and alignment of both heels. If the heels are facing each other, the comparison between the right and left calcaneum can be made. The exam can assist in determining traumatic injuries, bony prominences, deformities, and other abnormalities that could cause heel pain.
X-ray imaging uses a tiny amount of ionizing radiation to image bones and joints. AP and lateral projections are obtained for both calcanei, according to the prescribed radiographic protocol. The lateral view can be used to see a general overview of the shape of the heel bone, some fractures, and bony projections. The AP view will offer extra information about the bone structure and alignment. Additional imaging might be ordered by the treating doctor depending on the concern that is being addressed.
X-ray images might help determine if there is a calcaneal fracture (heel bone fracture). If the injury is more serious or complicated, a CT scan might be necessary to obtain a more detailed assessment.
A physical exam can show a bump in the bottom of the foot made up of bone. Heel spurs can develop along with chronic pain in the heel, but are not always the origin of pain.
A "bumpy" area in the back of the heel at the connection of the Achilles tendon will be seen on the X-ray. A clinical assessment can be used to assess if the finding is related to the patient's symptoms.
The AP and lateral views can provide information about the shape and position of the heels, as well as provide visible evidence of abnormalities or deformities, and may be used to help evaluate this.
During the examination, it may be found that there are supplemental changes that are chronic to the calcaneus, which is the type of bone usually affected, indicating bony remodeling and/or other structural changes that may be present.
For patients who have been treated for a previous foot condition that has required imaging, follow-up imaging may be clinically indicated and useful to assess the healing as well as alignment of the bones.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre and is fully furnished with services in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology. Our focus is on proper examination techniques, superb diagnostic imaging, an informative report by our extremely well-trained radiologists, and patient-centred care. Facilitate a comfortable and efficient diagnostics process and reliable reporting for clinical decision-making.
If you have been advised by your doctor to have an X-Ray Both Calcaneum AP & LAT View, then you may do so at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. The purposes of this research could be to evaluate the bone structure of both heels and to provide data that can be used to help your medical professional conduct a clinical evaluation.
