X-RAY LEFT WRIST LAT VIEW

₹500

Get a left wrist LAT view X-ray from Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL and NABH lab equipped with radiology and diagnostic Imaging services at an advanced facility. Another type of X-ray view is a lateral (side) view of the left wrist, to view the orientation of the bones of the wrist and the abnormalities of the bone and joint selected for study, in order to ascertain if there is any fracture.

About X-Ray Left Wrist LAT View

X-rays of the left wrist (side) will involve insertion of the X-ray beam into the body from the side, and an image of the left wrist will be taken. It assists doctors in assessing the alignment and location of the bones in the wrist and can detect abnormalities which could be linked to pain, swelling, injury, and limited mobility. This may be ordered in addition to and/or instead of other X-ray views of the wrist, depending on the clinical indication.

What is X-Ray Left Wrist LAT View?

A) X-ray imaging is a type of imaging that uses a controlled dose of radiation called X-rays to create images of bones and joints. If you look at it laterally, or from the side, it's crossed at the wrist so that you see the side of the wrist and the orientation of the distal bones of the radius and ulna, the carpal bones, and the surrounding bones. The image may also help to detect a fracture, dislocation, bent joints, and other abnormalities of the bones. Interpretation involves assessment of clinical symptoms and examination in light of this.

Common Reasons for X-Ray Left Wrist LAT View

  • Suspected Fracture: Useful for finding fractures of the wrist bones.
  • Wrist Pain: Examination of ongoing or unexplained left wrist pain.
  • Swelling and Tenderness: Appraised following trauma or when suspicions are raised of a bone/joint problem.
  • Joint Dislocation: Examines position of wrist bones.
  • Post-Injury Follow-up: Evaluation of aligned bone and/or bone healing after diagnosis of fracture.
  • Post-Treatment Evaluation: Can be used to check the wrist alignment after immobilization or surgery.

Conditions Evaluated

Wrist Fractures

The image is to be viewed from the side (lateral), which could be helpful in the process of identifying fractures of the distal radius, distal ulna, or carpal bones. Further opinions might be needed to determine the nature and extent of an injury.

Joint Alignment and Dislocation

The image will also be helpful to determine the congruence of the bones of the wrist and can give an indication of the position or dislocation following trauma.

Bone Abnormalities

X-rays can help to identify some of the abnormalities in the bones of your wrist. If there is a need for further characterization, it is recommended to proceed with further investigations.

Post-Traumatic Changes

Examination may have an aid in determining change following an injury which may include bone alignment and selected fractures complications.

Fracture Healing

It may be helpful in follow-up of the patient to establish the location of an established fracture and the pattern of healing of the fracture over time in the lateral view.

Joint and Degenerative Changes

The image may display features such as joint space narrowing, bone spurs, or other elements that are observable in a condition that creates degenerative problems in the wrist.

Book Your X-Ray Left Wrist LAT View

If your doctor has asked you to get an X-ray Left Wrist LAT View and has details of when you will see them and how to book, see Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. Take your prescription and past wrist X-rays and medical records, if any.

Test information: Fasting NOT needed

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting is usually not required before the examination.
  • Inform the radiology team if you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant.
  • Bring your doctor's prescription and any previous wrist X-rays or relevant medical records, if available.
  • Remove watches, bracelets, or other metal objects from the left wrist and hand before imaging.
  • Inform the radiographer about any recent injury, severe pain, swelling, or previous wrist surgery.
  • If a fracture is suspected, do not force the wrist into a particular position. Tell the radiographer if positioning causes significant pain.
  • Follow the radiographer's instructions and keep your wrist still during image acquisition.
