An X-Ray Right Hip AP View can be performed at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. We are an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre offering excellent Radiology and diagnostic imaging services. An AP view of the right hip joint can be taken to help identify any bony abnormalities, alignment, fractures, and degenerative changes.
About X-Ray Right Hip AP View
An X-Ray Right Hip AP View is a diagnostic imaging service that will provide an overview of the bones in your right hip joint. It will show the femoral head, femoral neck, acetabulum, and surrounding bony structures. You may be advised to have an X-Ray Right Hip AP View if you are experiencing pain, mobility issues, injury, or suspected issues with your hip joint. This will allow your doctor to identify any issues with the bones and alignment of the joint to see if further imaging is required.
What is X-Ray Right Hip AP View?
An X-ray uses a small amount of ionising radiation to create images of bones and joints. An AP view will provide the Radiologist with an overview of the right hip joint. The image will show the femoral head, femoral neck, acetabulum, joint space, and surrounding bony structures. Further views may be recommended.
Common Reasons for X-Ray Right Hip AP View
Suspected Fracture: Investigation of possible fractures involving the femoral head, neck, or nearby bones.
Difficulty Walking: Assessment of bony or joint abnormalities associated with pain or reduced mobility.
Suspected Arthritis: Evaluation of degenerative changes affecting the hip joint.
Restricted Movement: Investigation of reduced hip flexibility or difficulty moving the leg.
Joint Alignment Assessment: Evaluation of the position and relationship of the bones forming the hip joint.
Post-Treatment Follow-Up: Monitoring of selected fractures, joint abnormalities, or other previously diagnosed conditions.
Conditions Evaluated
Hip Fractures
An AP hip X-ray may help identify fractures involving the proximal femur, including the femoral neck and trochanteric region. However, some fractures may not be visible on initial radiographs. If a hip fracture remains suspected despite normal or inconclusive X-rays, MRI or CT may be recommended, depending on the clinical situation.
Osteoarthritis and Degenerative Changes
This can identify joint space narrowing, bony spurs, and other changes associated with osteoarthritis of the right hip.
Hip Joint Alignment
An AP view can help assess the position of the femoral head within the acetabulum and may demonstrate dislocation or other alignment abnormalities. Additional views may be required for further assessment.
Bone Abnormalities
Radiographs may reveal selected bony lesions, changes in bone structure, or other abnormalities requiring further clinical evaluation.
Joint-Space Changes
The image provides information about the hip joint space and visible articular surfaces, helping assess certain degenerative or structural conditions.
Follow-Up of Hip Injuries
This can be used to monitor healing of bones, joint alignment, and changes following treatment of selected hip injuries.

Follow the radiology staff's positioning instructions. Do not force your leg into a position that causes severe pain.
The patient is positioned according to the requirements of the right hip anteroposterior (AP) view.
The radiology staff positions the patient and the right hip appropriately to obtain a clear image of the hip joint and surrounding bones.
The patient is asked to remain still during image acquisition to help prevent blurring.
A brief exposure to X-rays is used to capture the image. The procedure is generally quick and painless.
The radiologist reviews the images for visible fractures, joint alignment, joint-space changes, degenerative changes, and other bony abnormalities.
If the images are inconclusive or a fracture remains suspected despite normal X-ray findings, the doctor may recommend additional imaging, such as CT or MRI, based on the clinical situation.
