CECT Angiography (One part)

12000

CECT Angiography (One Part) is a specialized imaging technique that combines contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) with high-resolution imaging to evaluate a single targeted vascular region or part of the body. Whether it’s the brain, neck, chest, abdomen, upper limbs, or lower limbs, this test is designed to capture clear, detailed images of blood vessels within that specific area. By injecting a contrast dye into the bloodstream, CECT Angiography makes arteries and veins appear distinctly on the scan, revealing structural details and potential blockages, malformations, or diseases that may otherwise go unnoticed. This targeted approach ensures precise diagnosis while limiting radiation exposure to the area of interest.

Purpose of CECT Angiography (One Part)

Doctors recommend CECT Angiography (One Part) when they need an in-depth look at the blood vessels in a specific region. Typical reasons include:

1. Suspected Vascular Blockages

To check for narrowing, plaque buildup, or blood clots that could obstruct blood flow.

2. Aneurysms

To detect bulges or weaknesses in vessel walls that may rupture.

3. Congenital Abnormalities

To evaluate malformations or unusual connections in blood vessels.

4. Trauma

To assess damage to blood vessels following injuries.

5. Tumor Evaluation

To see if tumors are affecting or encasing nearby blood vessels.

6. Pre-Surgical Planning

To help surgeons understand the vascular anatomy before operations.

7. Follow-Up After Treatment

To monitor the success of vascular surgeries, stents, or grafts.

Procedure for CECT Angiography (One Part)

This procedure is quick, precise, and typically takes about 10–20 minutes, although preparation and observation may add some extra time.

Before the Scan

  • You may be asked to fast for 4–6 hours beforehand.
  • Tell your healthcare team if you:
    • Have allergies to iodine-based contrast dye.
    • Are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
    • Have kidney issues or thyroid disorders.
  • Remove jewelry and metal objects from the area being scanned.

During the Scan

  • You will lie on a CT table, and an IV line will be placed in your arm for contrast injection.
  • As the dye is injected, you may feel a warm flush or metallic taste for a short moment.
  • The scanner rotates around the target area, capturing high-resolution images from multiple angles.
  • It’s important to stay still, and sometimes you may be asked to hold your breath briefly.

After the Scan

  • Most people can resume normal activities almost immediately.
  • Drink water to help flush the contrast dye from your system.
  • A radiologist analyzes the images and sends a detailed report to your doctor, usually within 24–48 hours.

Benefits of CECT Angiography (One Part)

  • High detail: Captures detailed images of arteries and veins in the chosen part of the body.
  • Quick and non-invasive: No surgical incision is required, making it safer and faster than traditional catheter-based angiography.
  • Accurate diagnosis: Helps detect blockages, aneurysms, malformations, and vascular complications.
  • Supports treatment planning: Assists doctors and surgeons in planning precise procedures or surgeries.
  • Versatile: Can be performed on almost any region — brain, chest, abdomen, arms, or legs

Conditions Commonly Diagnosed

CECT Angiography (One Part) can help detect and evaluate:

  • Arterial blockages due to atherosclerosis.
  • Blood clots (thrombosis or embolism).
  • Aneurysms and vessel wall defects.
  • Tumor-related vascular involvement.
  • Congenital vascular anomalies.
  • Post-traumatic vascular injuries.
  • Stenosis or narrowing of vessels.
  • Post-surgical changes in vessels.

Risks and Considerations

While generally safe, there are some considerations to be aware of:

Radiation Exposure

  • Uses controlled, localized ionizing radiation.

Contrast Dye Effects

  • Temporary side effects: warmth, metallic taste, or mild nausea.
  • Rare allergic reactions: usually manageable by the medical team.
  • Kidney function may be tested if you have chronic kidney disease.

Pregnancy

  • Generally avoided unless the scan is essential.

Need to Remain Still

  • Movement during scanning can blur the images.

When Might Your Doctor Recommend It?

Doctors might order CECT Angiography (One Part) if you:

  • Experience unexplained pain or swelling in a limb.
  • Have had trauma affecting a specific part of the body.
  • Show signs of poor circulation (like cold limbs or skin color changes).
  • Have a known aneurysm that needs monitoring.
  • Need pre-operative vascular mapping.
  • Have abnormal findings on ultrasound or MRI.
  • Need follow-up after vascular surgery or intervention.

Conclusion

Blood vessels are the body’s highways, carrying life-sustaining blood to tissues and organs. When issues arise — whether it’s a blockage, aneurysm, malformation, or trauma — doctors need a clear, precise view to diagnose and treat these conditions effectively. CECT Angiography (One Part) offers just that: high-resolution, contrast-enhanced images focused on a specific area, giving medical teams the clarity they need without invasive procedures. This scan is fast, non-invasive, and highly detailed, making it a trusted choice for evaluating vascular health in almost any region of the body. Whether it’s your brain, neck, chest, abdomen, or limbs, the information gained can be life-saving, guiding treatment decisions and preventing complications.

Test information: Fasting : 04 hours

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting: 04 hours.
  • Please carry a Serum Creatinine blood report and other medical documents.
  • Remove jewellery, metallic objects, or clothing that might interfere with the x-ray images.
  • Women should inform about any chance of pregnancy and the last menstrual cycle (LMP) date. In general, a CT scan is not performed on pregnant patients.
  • Please carry identification proof such as an Aadhar card, pan card etc.
