About 18F-FDG Whole Body PET-CT Scan

An 18F-FDG PET-CT scan is a modern method of diagnosis that integrates:

  • PET (Positron emission tomography)- measures metabolic activity.
  • CT (Computed Tomography)- gives finer anatomical structure.

We at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, Delhi, perform whole-body FDG PET-CT scans to provide very precise results on a variety of medical cases.

Whether it is cancer detection, therapy monitoring, or assessment of pertaining disorders of the heart and the brain, our professionals would make sure that imaging will be done with accuracy and safety under controlled conditions.

What is 18F-FDG PET-CT?

The radioactive tracer, 18F-FDG (Fluorodeoxyglucose), is used to identify the presence of a high glucose rate of metabolism in the body, typically correlated with cancer cells or abnormal cells.

When used with CT imaging, it provides a complete picture of both the functionality and the structure to be used by the doctors to make accurate diagnoses and treatment schedules.

Common Uses of 18F-FDG Whole Body PET-CT

Cancer treatment, staging, and recurrence screening.

  • Measuring reaction to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy.
  • Neurological examinations (epilepsy, dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinsonism, brain tumors)
  • Heart test (occluded arteries, myocardial infarction, tissue infarction)
  • Detection of hidden infections or inflammation.
