CT ANGIO LIMB (BOTH LEGS OR BOTH HANDS)

₹10000

To avail advanced Radiology and vascular imaging services, NABL & NABH Accredited Advanced Diagnostics Centre Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, advanced CT Angio Limb (Both Legs or Both Hands) services. This is a specialized CT angiography (angiography) study of the blood vessels of either the lower or upper limbs, depending on which is indicated, that employs intravenous contrast media and advanced imaging techniques for the CT scan. It helps doctors determine narrowing or blockage of vessels, damage, or other vascular problems in specific clinical cases.

About CT Angio Limb (Both Legs or Both Hands)

Specialized imaging tests include an examination of the arteries in both legs and, when both hands/arms are included in the studied areas (on the selected protocol), in both hands/arms (CT Angio Limb). It provides detailed images of blood vessels and the surrounding tissues and helps doctors check the flow of blood in vessels and identify any irregularities in vessels. These tests might be recommended for patients who might be thought to have peripheral arterial disease and other medical conditions like poor blood flow, vascular wounding, or abnormal pulses. The scan protocol will vary according to the clinical need and/or requirement and will be different if both lower or upper limbs are being scanned.

What is CT Angio Limb (Both Legs or Both Hands)?

Computed tomography (also known as computed tomography angiography or Computed tomography angiography (CTA) uses CT imaging and intravenous contrast to visualize blood vessels. If you are having a test for both limbs (legs or hands), either test could use CT Angio Limb to examine the blood vessels in either leg or hand. The next photographs may help in a diagnosis of narrowed arteries, obstructions, aneurysms, vascular malformations, and traumatic vascular injuries.

Common Reasons for CT Angio Limb (Both Legs or Both Hands)

  • Suspected Arterial Blockage: Assessment of the possibility of narrowing or obstruction of limb arteries.
  • Reduced blood flow: Assessing for blood flow changes in hands, skin colour changes, or the absence of pulses.
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease: Examination of arterial disease that occurs in the blood vessels in the legs or arms.
  • Limb pain on activity: Assess painful limbs which appear to be associated with poor flow, especially during walking or repetitive activity.
  • Non-Healing Wounds: Checking the blood supply to non-healing wounds and/or ulcers that don't heal well.
  • Assessment of Arterial Damage due to trauma, accident, or penetrating injury: Injured or damaged vessels.
  • Vascular Abnormality: Assessment of an enlarged, irregular, or defective blood vessel (aneurysm).
  • Blood Vessel Mapping (performed before a planned vascular or reconstructive surgery).
  • Post-Treatment Assessment: Supportive treatment follow-up of selected vascular procedures as appropriate to CT angiography.

Conditions Evaluated

Peripheral Arterial Disease

CT angiography allows for identification of arteries narrowing or changes to the arteries in the limbs that lead to the development of atherosclerosis. It may also be able to identify the location and severity of arterial disease, helping to identify what further tests or treatment might be needed.

Arterial Stenosis and Occlusion

During an examination, it is possible to see that the blockage or narrowing of the arteries can be demonstrated, and the segments of the artery where the blockage occurs. This information may be useful in consideration of decreased circulation to either the legs or hands.

Aneurysms

The scan may help the diagnosis of enlarged blood vessels and their location, size, and spread. This information may be helpful in planning the next steps of vascular evaluation and treatment.

Vascular Malformations

It is useful to describe any abnormal vascular relationships or malformations, chosen for analysis, by CT angiography, to clarify their anatomy and relationships with other structures.

Collateral Circulation

If the narrowing or blockage is severe, CT angiography can also show other routes the blood could take to reach the affected limb. This information can be used in the determination of a general estimate of the circulatory system.

Preoperative Vascular Mapping

The detailed vascular images may help the physician better understand the arterial anatomy before selecting surgical and/or endovascular procedures. These can be helpful to plan revascularization or other vascular procedures.

Post-Procedural Vascular Assessment

If it is clinically appropriate, CT angiography can help assess specific post-vascular surgery and/or vascular intervention changes, including the patency of the vessels and some vascular intervention/post-vascular intervention complications.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is a NABL and NABH registered Diagnostic Centre specializing in cutting-edge services in the field of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology. What sets us apart is our specialized knowledge of the correct procedures to follow, the most up-to-date diagnostic equipment, patient safety measures, and the reporting of accurate results. The patient is made aware of procedure preparation, the level of the procedure, the type of investigation being carried out, and the precautions that need to be taken for the contrast to be used before the patient has prepared for the procedure.

Book Your CT Angio Limb (Both Legs or Both Hands)

Contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy if your doctor has indicated that you need both feet and/or both hands checked for an examination of the CT Angio Limb, and to make an appointment. Take your meds, vascular imaging reports, and all other medical records, if available. Discuss with the imaging personnel whether or not any contrast material was additionally used in the past, if there is any concern that kidney issues may have occurred, if the patient is treated for diabetes, or if the patient has a risk of getting pregnant prior to the procedure.

Test information: 4–6 hours of fasting is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting for 4–6 hours is generally required before the scan. Follow the centre's instructions regarding water intake.
  • Confirm with the centre whether the scan is planned for both legs or both upper limbs, as the scan protocol depends on the area being examined.
  • Inform the radiology team if you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant.
  • Inform the team about any kidney disease, thyroid condition, diabetes, previous reaction to iodinated contrast material, or known allergies.
  • Tell the team about all medicines you take. Do not stop prescribed medicines unless your doctor advises you to do so.
  • A kidney function test may be required depending on your medical history and the scan protocol.
  • Bring your prescription, previous vascular imaging reports, relevant blood test results, and other medical records.
  • Inform the team about any previous vascular surgery, stents, or other vascular procedures.
  • Report any discomfort or unusual symptoms during or after contrast injection.
