CT UPPER LIMB ANGIOGRAPHY

₹8000

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH-accredited diagnostic centre and provides you with the best facilities and advanced imaging and radiology services for Upper Limb Angiography. A computed tomography (CT) scan is acquired after a special material is injected into an arm or vein, which makes the arteries of the arm and hand visible. Reveals detailed images of blood vessels to check for narrowing or clogging, blood clots, aneurysms, circulation defects, or other abnormalities. The objective of our centre for using state-of-the-art CT imaging technology, protocols and appropriate dosimetry is to develop diagnostic reporting and provide detailed vascular imaging.

About CT Upper Limb Angiography

An imaging test called computed tomography (CT) scan of the upper limb, or CT upper limb angiography, uses computed tomography (also known as CT scan) to help assess the blood flow in the arteries of the upper limb. It may involve the artery of either arm (or both arms) and the artery that runs towards the forearm and hand, depending on the type of study the person should be given.

What is CT Upper Limb Angiography?

An intravenous (IV) injection of an iodine-based dye is combined with computed tomography to create detailed images of the arteries that supply the upper limb in CT Upper Limb Angiography. Photos are taken at certain times to monitor the contrast in the blood vessels. The exact number of scans and protocol will vary from patient to patient and will be specific to the clinical indication and the doctor's request.

Common Reasons for CT Upper Limb Angiography

  • Vascular injury: Assesses possible arterial damage following accidents, fractures, penetrating injuries, or other trauma.
  • Aneurysm assessment: Evaluates abnormal enlargement of an artery in the scanned region.
  • Vascular malformations: Provides detailed images of certain abnormal blood vessel arrangements.
  • Preoperative planning: Helps map arterial anatomy before selected vascular or reconstructive procedures.
  • Post-treatment assessment: May be used to evaluate selected vascular repairs or interventions when recommended by the treating specialist.

Conditions Evaluated

Arterial Stenosis and Occlusion

The exam offers detailed views of the arteries and can help to show segments that are narrowed or blocked. When blood flow may be diminished, this information could aid in treatment decisions.

Traumatic Vascular Injuries

The upper limb may be evaluated following trauma for arterial injury that could include disruption of the vessel, presence of any active contrast leakage, or any other vascular abnormalities.

Aneurysms

This scan will detect if there is an abnormal enlargement in an artery, and determine its size, location, and the relationships with other arteries.

Vascular Malformations

Characterizing selected abnormal vascular connections and/or vessel arrangements may be achieved through the examination depending on the type of abnormality and scan protocol.

Preoperative Vascular Mapping

High-definition angiographic imaging can assist the physician in understanding the anatomy of the artery to appropriately plan the selected vascular, orthopaedic, or reconstructive procedure.

Book Your CT Upper Limb Angiography

If your doctor has recommended that you have an Upper Limb Angiography to look at blood vessels that are not working well, narrowed, or damaged, please call Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy to register your interest, obtain information on the availability of appointments, the coverage of the patients' scans, any necessary preparation required, and the time for the scans to be reported to your doctor.

Test information: Fasting for 4–6 hours is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting for 4–6 hours is required before the scan. Follow the diagnostic centre’s instructions regarding water intake.
  • Inform the healthcare team if you have kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, or any other significant medical condition.
  • Inform the staff about any previous allergic reaction to iodinated contrast material or other contrast agents.
  • Tell the healthcare team about all medicines you take, especially medicines for diabetes, and do not stop any medication unless instructed by your doctor.
  • You may be asked to undergo a kidney function blood test before the scan, depending on your medical history and the centre’s protocol.
  • Inform the staff if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Bring previous CT scans, angiography images, reports, and relevant medical records, if available.
  • Remove jewellery, watches, and other metal objects from the area being examined.
  • Wear comfortable clothing and follow all instructions provided by the radiology team.
  • Inform the staff if you experience discomfort, itching, breathing difficulty, or any unusual symptoms during or after contrast injection.
