To obtain an NCCT Calcaneum 3D Scan at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, a NABL-accredited and NABH-certified diagnostic centre that offers state-of-the-art radiology diagnostic imaging services. One of the special types of CT, which also produces detailed images of the bone of the heel (calcaneum), including a 3D reconstruction, can help to produce a visualisation of the shape of the bone, its alignment, and the pattern of fractures. It can aid the assessment of injuries, fractures, and bony abnormalities such as in the heel.
Another special imaging study undertaken is NCCT Calcaneum + 3D, which is a non-contrast CT examination of the calcaneus, the large bone at the back of the heel, with 3D reconstruction. Uses a non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) with incorporation of three-dimensional reconstruction to produce detailed images of the heel bone and bony anatomy around it. It can be particularly useful in evaluating a complex fracture, displaced bone fragments, joint involvement, or changes in the alignment of the bones. The 3D images help to understand the location and shape of the fracture and help plan treatment, especially surgery.
Non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) is the absence of a contrast material used in a CT scan. The testing involves X-rays and using computer software to view a cross-section of the calcaneum without any dye being administered into the bloodstream. These images are used in 3D reconstruction to create 3D views of the heel bone. This will enhance the visualisation of a fracture pattern, bone displacement, joint lines, and overall bone anatomy by the radiologist and the doctor treating the fracture.
Detailed, cross-sectional imaging of the heel bone can be obtained with NCCT and can assist in determining the location, size, and complexity of the fracture. It might also demonstrate fracture lines and broken bone sectors that typically would not be detectable in common X-rays.
Use when assessing shape and alignment of the heel bone after the injury: NCCT Calcaneum + 3D. The results could be useful in the case of fracture displacement or post-traumatic deformity.
In cases where a previous fracture of the calcaneus has been suffered, CT may be useful if there is a concern about the healing process, or CT may help assess fracture healing, persistent fracture lines, displacement, delayed union, or malunion.
Also, at examination, the radiologist may identify special peculiarities of the structure: fragments of bone, unique defects, etc., of the calcaneum bone and other parts.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is a NABL and NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre providing a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutic facilities for services such as Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Pathology. Quality diagnostic images, selective scanning procedures, patient safety, and dependable imaging report delivery are all Keys to Success in our imaging services. Patients are aware of the examination procedures and warnings to take in order to provide an effective and pleasant experience.
If you have previously been referred to have an NCCT Calcaneum + 3D scan, you may avail an appointment to scan at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. Take any previous medical records, X-rays, or other imaging tests and their results, if available. Please let the imaging team know that you are pregnant before you have an imaging exam.
