Book your NCCT Cervical Spine at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, which is an NABL & NABH-accredited diagnostics centre. NCCT Cervical Spine is a non-contrast neck scan that produces detailed images of the vertebrae, spinal canal, facet joints, intervertebral spaces, and other important neck bones to assess the condition of the cervical spine region. It is particularly useful to assess neck or cervical spine injuries, if fracture or disc degeneration is suspected, to grow abnormalities or deformities in spine movement, and for other problems involving abnormalities of the cervical spine.
About NCCT Cervical Spine
An advanced computed tomography imaging test to detail the cross-sectional imaging of the cervical spine. It shows a fairly good view of the cervical vertebrae, the alignment of the spine, the facet joints, the vertebral arches, and the surrounding bone structure. The examination is especially significant if there is a neck injury or some kind of trauma has occurred; if a cervical fracture is suspected; if the person's neck pain doesn't go away; or if there is a need to examine the cervical spine in detail, for example, with degenerative spine problems or other issues.
What is NCCT Cervical Spine?
NCCT Cervical Spine refers to a technique that provides detailed cross-sectional images of the cervical spine (neck) using X-ray-based computed tomography (CT) technology. The exam can reveal a lot of detail about cervical spine abnormalities, including fractures, bone abnormalities, degenerative changes, and vertebral alignment.
Common Reasons for NCCT Cervical Spine
Neck Pain
If the neck pain has not resolved or is unexplained, the vertebrae and other bones of the cervical spine may be seen in detail by a procedure called NCCT Cervical Spine.
Cervical Spine Injury
If there is a possibility that the person has fractured, dislocated, or suffered other trauma to the body following a fall, injury, or sports-related incident, CT can be used in order to detect if there is an injury.
Suspected Cervical Fracture
The use of NCCT to obtain high-resolution images of the cervical vertebrae can be helpful to assess possible cervical fracture(s) that can require urgent medical management.
Restricted Neck Movement
Imaging may be helpful if the neck is difficult to move without pain or if there are troublesome structural abnormalities or if there are degenerative changes.
Degenerative Changes
CT may be useful for looking for any changes to the bone that may occur with cervical spondylosis and other changes occurring in the cervical spine.
Suspected Spinal Alignment Abnormality
The exam may be used for assessing misalignment or problems with positioning of the cervical vertebrae.
Follow-Up After Injury or Surgery
NCCT can be used to evaluate healing, realignment, or other changes in the bones after treatment or surgery of the neck or spine.
Conditions Evaluated
Cervical Spine Fractures
The cervical vertebrae can be viewed in detail by NCCT, even in severe traumatic fractures.
Cervical Vertebral Abnormalities
The exam checks for any abnormalities of the bones or joints of the cervical spine.
Cervical Spondylosis
Assessment of degenerative bony changes (osteophytes), facet joint degeneration, and other cervical spondylosis can be done.
Spinal Alignment Abnormalities
With the use of CT imaging, the alignment of the cervical vertebrae can be evaluated, and the presence of any dislocations or abnormal positioning can be detected.
Facet Joint Abnormalities
Facet joints can be evaluated for abnormal traumatic changes, structural abnormalities, and degenerative changes.
Bone Lesions
NCCT can be useful in differentiating and identifying some focal bone lesions, skeletal deformities of growth plates, or any other bone abnormalities located in the cervical spine.
Traumatic Changes
An exam can assess cervical spine trauma after road traffic incidents, falls, sporting events, or other trauma.
Post-Surgical Changes
NCCT is useful for evaluating bony changes and alignment following cervical spine surgery and for follow-up.
Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre with a team of experienced personnel, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and who have a special interest in the field of CT & Radiology diagnostics and therapy. It is our priority in our centre to take care of patients, have safety procedures in place, ensure reliability in reporting, and get the image correct.
Book Your NCCT Cervical Spine
If the neck pain is persistent or occurs following a recent injury to the cervical spine, a suspected fracture, if the neck needs to be moved, or for other reasons requiring detailed assessment of the cervical spine region. NCCT is a cervical spine scan that provides advanced technology and may be available to patients.
Reporting: None
Usually, no fasting is required before an NCCT Cervical Spine scan.
Inform the radiology team about any previous cervical spine surgery, fracture, dislocation, injury, or other treatment.
Inform the centre if you have metallic implants, plates, screws, fixation devices, or other medical hardware in the neck or cervical spine.
Tell the radiology team if you have severe neck pain or difficulty maintaining the required position.
Inform the radiology team about your current medicines and relevant medical conditions.
Tell the radiology team if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, as CT uses ionising radiation.
Bring previous CT scans, X-rays, MRI scans, or other relevant medical records if available.
Remove jewellery, necklaces, earrings, hair accessories, or other unnecessary metallic objects from the head and neck region before the examination.
Wear comfortable clothing and follow the positioning instructions provided by the radiology team.
Keep the head and neck as still as possible during scanning to reduce motion-related image degradation.
Follow any additional instructions provided by the radiology team based on your clinical condition.

The radiology team reviews the clinical history, symptoms, previous investigations, and indication for the NCCT Cervical Spine.
The patient is positioned appropriately on the CT table with the head and neck aligned according to the cervical spine imaging protocol.
A non-contrast CT examination is performed using thin-section imaging of the cervical spine.
Images are obtained to evaluate the seven cervical vertebrae, vertebral bodies, posterior elements, facet joints, intervertebral spaces, spinal canal, and surrounding bony structures.
The examination can demonstrate fractures, fracture fragments, vertebral displacement, alignment abnormalities, degenerative bony changes, bone lesions, and other structural abnormalities.
The facet joints and vertebral alignment are assessed for traumatic or degenerative changes.
Multiplanar and, when required, three-dimensional image reconstructions may be generated for detailed evaluation of complex anatomy and fracture patterns.
No intravenous contrast material is used for a standard NCCT Cervical Spine examination.
The patient should remain still during image acquisition to reduce motion-related image degradation.
CT uses ionising radiation, and the examination is performed using an appropriate imaging protocol with radiation-safety measures.
The acquired images are reviewed and interpreted by a qualified radiologist in correlation with the clinical information and available previous investigations.
