NCCT Face (Sagittal) is an imaging service offered at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, which is an NABL / NABH Certified Diagnostic Centre and offering Diagnostic Imaging Services. A detailed cross-sectional representation of the facial bones and associated structures is provided with NCCT Face (Sagittal), which can be useful for the assessment of facial fractures, bone abnormalities, changes in the sinus, and traumatic injury post-trauma. This non-contrast computed tomography (CT) scans is useful for evaluating facial bone anatomy in detail for reference purposes and to assist clinicians in deciding on an effective treatment for additional imaging is needed.
A special computed tomography (CT) scan view taken of the face (sagittal) that shows the facial bones and selected nearby tissues without the use of an intravenous material. Sagittal images give additional information regarding bone alignment, facial structure, and other abnormalities, and depict anatomical structures in side-view sections. The examination may help diagnose facial injuries, suspected fractures, abnormalities in the structure, and potential areas of interest which may need further examination than usual X-rays might be able to provide. Depending upon the scan protocol and clinical need, the sagittal reconstruction will often be used in conjunction with axial and coronal CT.
Non-Contrast computed tomography (NCCT) is also known as non-contrast CT. It does not inject a dye into a vein, but instead takes X-rays and uses computer processing of the facial area. The sagittal plane divides the body into the right side and left side, and a physician can visualize the body from the side. These images can be helpful in determining the relationships of the facial bones and for further data regarding the selected fractures or structural anomalies. The examination might be recommended following trauma to the face or if the clinician needs detailed bony imaging to confirm the diagnosis based on physical examination of the face or from a prior imaging study.
The exam may help to determine some of the fractures, displacement of bones, and other changes of bones following a facial fracture.
CT imaging can aid in the evaluation of fractures of the maxilla and other midfacial bones, both in terms of the presence of a fracture and the degree of bony disruption if there is a fracture.
Sagittal reconstructions can be performed from the view provided by a sagittal reconstruction to provide doctors with a side view of the face's structure and to examine some of the deformities.
Selected abnormalities and variations of the facial bones can be shown by using CT imaging. The significance of these findings will be dependent on the nature, history, and clinical context of the patient's symptoms.
Structural Variations can be present from birth or acquired. The variations can be structural and congenital or acquired.
Our centre is an integrated NABL and NABH-accredited diagnostic centre, which treats you by providing all the advanced Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy checks and treatment under one roof. Complimentary to the imaging services are A high-tech diagnostic system, a standardized scan routine, skilled radiology personnel, and a patient-centric approach. We help our patients discuss safety concerns to help secure high-quality imaging and proper diagnosis during the examination.
If you have been referred for NCCT face (sagittal) by your doctor, please make an appointment for your exam at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. If available, bring your prescription, previous X-rays, CT or MRI reports, and any other related medical records. Do notify the radiology staff in advance of the examination if you are pregnant or have concerns about being pregnant.
