At Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre, book an NCCT Head scan for a detailed evaluation of the brain, skull, and surrounding structures, using the latest advances in CT and Radiology. The NCCT Head procedure is a specialized imaging protocol for non-contrast computed tomography that is used to image the brain and the bones of the head. There are some instances where it may be helpful for the evaluation of suspected bleeding, stroke-related emergencies, skull fracture, seizures, and any other neurological or structural anomaly. Our centre meets patients' imaging needs with the help of skilled radiology professionals, cutting-edge equipment, safe imaging practices, thorough reporting, and patient-centered treatment.
About NCCT Head
This is a type of CT that can be performed on the brain and skull only, without contrast material being injected into the bloodstream. It offers detailed cross-sectional images which may be helpful to diagnose areas of acute and chronic abnormalities in the brain and neighboring structures. NCCT Head is invaluable in such an emergency time frame where a quick assessment is needed after a head injury and/or where symptoms point to a potentially significant neurological condition, given that the procedure is quick and widely available.
What is NCCT Head?
NCCT Head uses well-developed imaging tools for computed tomography scans to generate a detailed image of the brain, skull, and associated structures without the use of an intravenous contrast agent. Examination components can all help to identify intracranial bleeding, skull fracture, brain swelling, some areas of ischemic change, hydrocephalus, mass effect, and other structural abnormalities. Applies broadly to any clinical setting that demands rapid imaging of the head.
Common Reasons for NCCT Head
Head Injury or Trauma
CT helps look for skull fractures, bleeding in or around the brain, and other changes caused by trauma to the head/skull after a fall, accident, sporting injury, or other head trauma.
Suspected Brain Bleeding
NCCT is commonly used for rapid assessment when intracranial hemorrhage is suspected.
Sudden Neurological Symptoms
Rapidly deciding whether concerning brain imaging is indicated is important when symptoms include impaired consciousness, altered behavior, difficulty speaking or talking, or confusion and weakness.
Seizures
In some patients with new-onset seizures and/or suspicion for a structural anomaly, brain imaging is recommended.
Altered Consciousness
NCCT Head can be beneficial to evaluate patients with unexplained drowsiness, confusion, or changes in consciousness.
Follow-Up of Known Brain Abnormalities
Can be employed to track certain diagnosed brain or skull disorders that were diagnosed in the past based on the recommendation of the doctor.
Conditions Evaluated
Intracranial Hemorrhage
NCCT Head is very useful for identifying acute bleeding in the brain or in the surrounding tissues, especially during emergencies.
Skull Fractures
This exam gives detailed images of the skull, and it may be used after trauma to identify fractures.
Brain and Skull Abnormalities
Impairments of the brain and skull can be used to show structural abnormalities that should lead to additional clinical assessment by NCCT.
Post-Traumatic Changes
The examination can evaluate the brain and skull damage following head injury and can be of benefit if clinically indicated during follow-up examinations.
