NCCT LEFT HIP JOINT

₹3000

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is a NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre that provides advanced CT and radiology scan services for an evaluation of the left hip joint and surrounding bones. NCCT Left Hip Joint is a specialized non-contrast computed tomography scan that provides cross-sectional images of the hip bones, femoral head and neck, the acetabulum, and hip surfaces. It can assist in assessing hip pain when X-ray findings are inconclusive and a bony cause is suspected, including cases of possible fracture, trauma, joint alignment abnormalities, degenerative issues, and more.

The examination is especially helpful for seeing fractures that may be more complicated and/or abnormalities in the bones when a more detailed finding of the fracture and/or bony abnormality may be necessary beyond what can be readily found on standard X-rays. Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy offers access to advanced diagnostic imaging at one location, combined with a highly specialized radiology staff, cutting-edge technology, the proper safety measures, and a patient-centered approach, providing all your imaging needs in one place.

About NCCT Left Hip Joint

A specific type of computed tomography scan called NCCT Left Hip Joint takes particular images of the left hip joint and the adjacent pelvic bone (acetabulum) and upper femur. Provides comprehensive X-ray imaging of the femoral head, neck, and surrounding bony structures. It is especially useful following trauma or if there is a suspicion of fracture, the presence of a joint problem, or a degenerative bone disease. It helps your doctor determine the type and the location of your bone injury, and can play a role in developing treatment.

What is NCCT Left Hip Joint?

NCCT Left Hip Joint is a non-contrast (plain) X-ray-based computed tomography (CT) to obtain detailed cross-sectional images of the left hip joint without using intravenous contrast. The use of the scan can help identify fractures, misalignment of the bones, joint congruity, degenerative changes, and other structural abnormalities. It displays a wide range of hip anatomy and may be helpful on occasion if more information is desired after a first look at an X-ray exam.

Common Reasons for NCCT Left Hip Joint

  • Left Hip Pain: To investigate persistent pain when X-ray findings are inconclusive and a bony cause is suspected when detailed assessment of the hip bones and joint is required.
  • Suspected Hip Fracture: To identify fractures involving the femoral head, femoral neck, or acetabulum.
  • Trauma or Injury: To assess bony injuries following a fall, road traffic accident, or other significant impact.
  • Difficulty in Hip Movement: To evaluate restricted movement or inability to bear weight when a bony cause is suspected, such as a fracture not seen on X-ray.
  • Suspected Bone Abnormality: To investigate irregularities or lesions involving the bones around the left hip.
  • Degenerative Hip Changes: To assess bony changes associated with osteoarthritis and other degenerative joint conditions.
  • Joint Alignment Assessment: To examine the position of the femoral head within the acetabulum and identify possible dislocation or abnormal alignment.
  • Complex Bony Injury: To provide detailed images of fractures involving the hip joint or multiple bone fragments.
  • Follow-Up After Injury or Surgery: To assess bone healing, alignment, or post-treatment changes when clinically indicated.

Conditions Evaluated

Hip Fractures

Fractures can be seen in detail on NCCT, including fractures due to complex bony injury of the acetabulum, femoral neck, and femoral head.

Bone Lesions

The scan can provide some clues for the diagnosis of certain focal bone lesions, abnormal bone growth, and other structural abnormalities for further examination.

Acetabular Abnormalities

NCCT offers detailed visualisation of the acetabulum used to assess fractures, structural irregularities, and other bone abnormalities of the hip socket.

Femoral Head and Neck Abnormalities

The exam may evaluate the femoral head and neck for fractures or deformities, or other changes in the structure.

Complex Traumatic Injuries

Following major trauma, CT can provide images of numerous fracture parts and the degree of bone damage detected from the injury location.

Post-Traumatic and Post-Surgical Changes

This exam might help determine how well the bone has recovered, if the bone has realigned, or if there are other changes in the structure of the hip after an injury or a procedure performed on your hip.

Test information: Usually, no fasting is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Usually, no fasting is required for an NCCT Left Hip Joint scan.
  • Inform the radiology team about any previous left hip or pelvic surgery, fracture, dislocation, injury, or treatment.
  • Inform the radiology team if you have metallic implants, plates, screws, fixation devices, or other medical hardware in or around the left hip.
  • Inform the radiology team if you are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or are planning a pregnancy, as CT uses ionising radiation.
  • Share details of your current medicines and any relevant medical conditions.
  • Bring previous CT scans, X-rays, MRI scans, or other relevant hip and pelvic reports, if available.
  • Remove jewellery, belts, or other unnecessary metal objects before the examination, as advised.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows proper positioning for the scan.
  • Inform the radiology team if severe hip pain, swelling, or difficulty moving or bearing weight makes positioning difficult.
  • Keep your left hip and body still during image acquisition to help obtain clear images.
  • Follow any additional instructions provided by the radiology team according to your clinical condition.
