NCCT NECK & CHEST

₹4000

At Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre, you can opt for an NCCT Neck & Chest scan, which is a cutting-edge Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging procedure. It is an imaging test that generates detailed cross-sectional images of the structures of the neck and chest without usually using contrast material. It assists in assessing enlargement of lymph nodes, masses in the neck, problems with breathing passages, lung disease, chest infections, and other abnormalities that involve the structures of these areas. A scan can also help determine if any abnormalities are present and if they might benefit from further investigation, and how the surrounding anatomy might affect the scan. With advanced CT imaging technology and appropriate scanning protocols, our centre aims to provide detailed imaging and reliable diagnostic reporting.

About NCCT Neck & Chest

A CT exam of the neck and chest (also known as NCCT) is a scan of the structures that pass through the neck and chest, such as the airway and surrounding soft tissues, lymph nodes, lungs, and other visible anatomical structures. It merges imaging of these two sites to help physicians evaluate symptoms and/or abnormalities and possibly involve the upper airways and/or neck or thoracic cavity.

What is NCCT Neck & Chest?

Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (CT) of the neck and chest is known as NCCT Neck & Chest. It uses X-rays and computer processing to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the neck and chest without intravenous contrast material. The scan produces images without intravenous contrast material. The scan might reveal abnormal soft tissue reactions in the airways and lymph nodes, neck, lungs, and chest structure. Non-contrast computed tomography (CT) is helpful in many diseases, but some of the abnormalities may indicate the need for additional studies and/or contrast-enhanced computed tomography for a more thorough examination.

Common Reasons for NCCT Neck & Chest

  • Neck swelling or lumps: Evaluates structural abnormalities and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck.
  • Persistent cough or respiratory symptoms: Helps assess selected lung and airway abnormalities when CT imaging is indicated.
  • Suspected chest infection: May help identify lung changes associated with certain infections or inflammatory conditions.
  • Enlarged lymph nodes: Assesses the location, size, and distribution of visible lymph nodes in the neck and chest.
  • Airway abnormalities: Examines the upper airway and other visible airway structures for narrowing or displacement.
  • Suspected masses: Helps identify and assess selected masses involving the neck or chest.
  • Chest pain or unexplained symptoms: Provides additional anatomical information when a doctor considers CT appropriate.
  • Follow-up imaging: May be used to monitor selected previously identified abnormalities according to the treating doctor's advice.

Conditions Evaluated

Enlarged Cervical and Thoracic Lymph Nodes

The exam may indicate that lymph nodes that are being scanned are enlarged. Determines their importance based on size, appearance, distribution, clinical symptoms, etc.

Lung and Airway Conditions

Selected lung abnormalities such as inflammation, infection, and/or other structural changes may be evaluated using CT imaging. Abnormalities of visible airway structures may also be shown.

Chest Masses and Structural Changes

Sometimes NCCT can identify some masses and anatomical abnormalities in the chest. Contrast-enhanced CT or other investigations may be required for further characterisation depending on the condition suspected.

Bone and Other Visible Structural Abnormalities

The examination can also demonstrate selected abnormalities involving the visible bones and other structures within the scanned regions.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is a NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre offering comprehensive diagnostics under the domain of Radiology, Pathology and Nuclear Medicine. By using professional and expert radiology staff and advanced computed tomography (CT) imaging technology, it seeks to ensure that the right imaging technique is used, the images are interpretable, and the reports are accurate. These factors are crucial considerations from the start of the diagnostics process through to patient comfort and safety measures, as well as streamlined coordination and easy pricing.

Book Your NCCT Neck & Chest

Please contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy if your doctor suggested an NCCT Neck & Chest scan. If your doctor has recommended an NCCT Neck & Chest scan to investigate neck swelling, lymph node enlargement, respiratory symptoms, or suspected structural abnormalities, contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy for further information.

Test information: Usually, no fasting is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting is usually not required for an NCCT Neck & Chest scan.
  • Inform the radiology team about any previous surgery, injury, or treatment involving the neck or chest.
  • Tell the team if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, as CT uses X-rays.
  • Share details of your current medicines, allergies, and any relevant medical conditions.
  • Bring previous CT scans, X-rays, MRI scans, and other relevant medical reports, if available.
  • Inform the team if you have difficulty breathing, swallowing, or lying flat.
  • Remove necklaces, earrings, chains, and other metallic objects around the neck and chest before the scan, as instructed.
  • Wear comfortable clothing without metal fasteners, if possible.
  • Follow the staff’s positioning and breathing instructions during the examination.
  • Remain still during image acquisition to help obtain clear images.
