Book an appointment at the diagnostic centre. As a NABL & NABH-certified laboratory, Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy provides the finest radiology and diagnostic imaging services at NCCT PNS Coronal. A cross-sectional scan of the paranasal sinuses with NCCT PNS Coronal is performed to evaluate anatomical variations of the paranasal sinuses, sinus cavity abnormality, nasal obstruction, and inflammation of the sinus cavity.
A non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) scan was taken of the paranasal sinuses with acquisition and/or reconstruction in the coronal plane. This is a very good representation of the frontal, ethmoid, maxillary, and sphenoid sinuses and their adjacent bony passages or sites of sinus drainage. This exam is frequently recommended for those patients suffering from persistent symptoms, chronic sinusitis, nasal obstruction, recurrent sinus infections, anatomical variation, and others.
NCCT stands for Non-Contrast Computed Tomography, which is a non-invasive method using X-rays; PNS denotes the paranasal sinuses. Thanks to X-rays and a computer, the scan is able to give detailed diagnostic images of the paranasal sinuses. A coronal section is very useful for describing the location and the anatomy of the paranasal sinuses, nasal cavity, and ethmoid air cells. This is especially true when taken in conjunction with the doctor's clinical assessment of the patient's symptoms.
Imaging features of sinusitis can be shown, such as mucosal thickening and opacification of the sinus cavity, or partial or complete opacification of the sinus cavity, as demonstrated by NCCT PNS Coronal.
CT may demonstrate soft-tissue opacification in the nasal cavity or paranasal sinuses that may suggest nasal polyps. Clinical examination, including nasal endoscopy when indicated, may be required for confirmation.
Computed tomography (CT) may show a deviation of the nasal cavity with some attendant changes to the nasal cavity.
Coronal images are useful for assessing the osteomeatal complex and sinus drainage pathways. Additional imaging planes may be reviewed when needed.
This exam will be useful for assessment of changes in the paranasal sinuses.
NCCT gives a detailed look at the sinuses and the bones that surround the nose. This may be helpful for identifying certain conditions and bones.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is a NABL/NABH Certified Diagnostics Centre that offers advanced diagnostics services from the fields of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology all in one place. We specialize in using the right imaging tests, provide a patient-friendly environment, leverage cutting-edge imaging technology, and deliver results. We provide good diagnostic imaging and assist doctors in a diagnostic/therapeutic plan for the appropriate action to take.
Nasal obstruction, persistent sinus symptoms and/or recurrent sinus infections, or before surgery, if recommended, contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy to schedule NCCT PNS Coronal. A prescription will need to be provided, as well as previous CT or X-ray reports and other relevant medical records, if available.
Test information: Fasting NOT required.
