Right Hand is a non-contrast computed tomography (CT) scan to get detailed cross-sectional views of the bones and joints of the right hand. It offers detailed, high-resolution imaging of the complex bone structures and assesses fractures, dislocations, joint deformities, bone lesions, and other structural abnormalities. NCCT Right Hand is carried out at the Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy utilizing superior CT imaging technology and suitable scanning protocols. The detailed images help to make an accurate diagnosis and follow up on hand injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions.
About NCCT Right Hand
Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) is done without injection of intravenous dye and produces detailed cross-sectional images using X-rays and computerised image reconstruction. The hand is made up of several tiny bones and joints, which are difficult to see on conventional X-rays. In the case of a complex injury, a hidden, subtle fracture, or other structural abnormality that needs further evaluation, CT imaging gives further detail of the anatomy.
What is NCCT Right Hand?
In the NCCT Right Hand scan, the patient's right hand is accurately placed inside the CT scanner. Several images are captured and reconstructed into cross-sectional images for detailed examination of the bones and joints. This scan shows fracture lines, bone alignment, bone displacement, joints that have been affected by the injury, bone fragments, as well as other abnormalities.
Common Reasons for NCCT Right Hand
Evaluation of suspected hand fractures
Assessment of subtle or complex fractures
Evaluation of traumatic hand injuries
Assessment of dislocations and bone alignment
Investigation of persistent or unexplained hand pain
Evaluation of joint abnormalities
Assessment of bone lesions or structural changes
Preoperative planning for selected hand conditions
Follow-up of known fractures or other bone abnormalities
Conditions Evaluated
Hand Fractures
CT can provide detailed information about the location, extent, displacement, and alignment of fractures involving the bones of the right hand.
Complex Traumatic Injuries
The examination can help assess complicated bony injuries following significant trauma.
Joint Abnormalities
NCCT can demonstrate bony alignment and joint-surface involvement in selected hand conditions.
Bone Lesions
Certain bone lesions and structural abnormalities can be evaluated in greater anatomical detail using CT.
Dislocations
The scan can help assess the position and alignment of bones and joints following suspected or known dislocation.

The patient’s symptoms, injury history, previous investigations, and relevant medical information are reviewed before the scan.
The patient is positioned comfortably on the CT examination table with the right hand placed appropriately according to the scanning protocol.
The hand is supported and positioned to minimise movement during image acquisition.
A series of CT images is obtained from multiple angles using X-rays.
No intravenous contrast injection is routinely required for a standard NCCT Right Hand examination.
The acquired data are reconstructed into detailed cross-sectional images of the right hand.
The examination provides detailed visualisation of the hand bones, joints, joint surfaces, bone alignment, and other structures included within the scanned area.
CT images may help assess fractures, dislocations, small bone fragments, fracture displacement, joint involvement, and selected bone abnormalities.
Additional multiplanar image reconstructions may be performed when required for more detailed evaluation.
The patient is asked to remain still throughout the scan to maintain image quality.
The images are reviewed by the radiologist and correlated with symptoms, clinical findings, previous imaging, and relevant medical history.
Appropriate radiation-safety and patient-positioning protocols are followed throughout the examination.
