NCCT right leg is a computed tomography (CT) scan without contrast dye (medicine) to get detailed images of the bones and nearby tissues of the right leg. It allows a detailed visualization of the tibia, fibula, joints, and other bone tissues, and is useful in certain instances of fractures, trauma-induced injury, bone lesions, and other abnormalities. NCCT Right Leg is performed at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy with advanced CT technologies and selected musculoskeletal imaging procedures.
About NCCT Right Leg
Non-Contrast Computed Tomography is performed without using intravenous contrast and computerises the images to provide detailed cross-sectional information. In certain instances, more information is gained from the physical examination. Sometimes it's helpful if a fracture is complicated or subtle, involves a joint, or if more evaluation of a known bone abnormality is needed.
What is NCCT Right Leg?
The patient is placed comfortably for the examination on the CT scanning table with the right leg placed for imaging. A series of CT images is obtained through the selected region of the right leg. This scan shows fracture lines, alignment of bones, displacement, bone fragments, and other abnormalities in the structure. NCCT does not need the use of IV contrast for routine use.
Common Reasons for NCCT Right Leg
Evaluation of suspected fractures of the leg
Assessment of complex or subtle fractures
Evaluation of injuries following trauma
Assessment of bone alignment and displacement
Evaluation of persistent or unexplained leg pain
Assessment of bone lesions or structural abnormalities
Evaluation of joint involvement in traumatic injuries
Preoperative planning for selected orthopaedic conditions
Follow-up of known fractures or bone abnormalities
Conditions Evaluated
Leg Fractures
CT can provide detailed information about the location, extent, alignment, and displacement of fractures involving the tibia, fibula, or adjacent bones.
Complex Traumatic Injuries
The scan can help assess complicated bony injuries following significant trauma.
Bone Lesions
Selected bone lesions and structural abnormalities can be evaluated in greater anatomical detail with CT.
Joint-Related Injuries
When a fracture extends toward a joint, CT can help demonstrate the extent of joint-surface involvement.
Bone Alignment Abnormalities
The examination can provide detailed information about the position and alignment of the bones in the scanned region.
Who Should Consider This Scan?
Your doctor may recommend NCCT Right Leg if you:
Have experienced trauma or injury to the right leg

The patient’s symptoms, injury history, previous imaging, and relevant medical information are reviewed before the scan.
The patient is positioned comfortably on the CT examination table with the right leg placed appropriately according to the scanning protocol.
The leg is supported and positioned to minimise movement during image acquisition.
A series of CT images is obtained from multiple angles using X-rays.
No intravenous contrast injection is routinely required for a standard NCCT Right Leg examination.
The acquired data are reconstructed into detailed cross-sectional images of the right leg.
The examination provides detailed visualisation of the tibia, fibula, adjacent bones, joints, and other structures included within the scanned area.
CT images may help assess fractures, fracture displacement, bone alignment, bone fragments, joint involvement, and selected bone lesions or structural abnormalities.
Multiplanar image reconstructions may be performed when required for more detailed assessment of the bones and joints.
The patient is asked to remain still throughout the scan to maintain clear and accurate images.
The images are reviewed by the radiologist and correlated with the patient’s symptoms, clinical findings, previous imaging, and relevant medical history.
Appropriate radiation-safety and patient-positioning protocols are followed throughout the examination.
