The NCCT Right Wrist is a computed tomography (CT) scan of the Right wrist that does not require an injection of X-ray contrast material for the bones and surrounding tissues. It offers detailed, high-quality data on the bones of the wrist and identifies broken bones, small pieces of bone, abnormalities in the joints, and other bone changes. The NCCT of the Right wrist is performed at Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy using advanced CT imaging technology and a suitable scanning protocol. This scan offers detailed anatomical information that helps with the diagnosis of wrist conditions.
About NCCT Right Wrist
This examination is done without the help of IV contrast material, as opposed to contrast-enhanced CT. The CT process involves X-rays and computerised image reconstruction producing detailed two-dimensional images of the wrist. In some situations, the scan gives a more detailed understanding of the complex bone architecture, and it is especially helpful if there is a suspicion of fracture or when a detailed analysis of the bones in the wrist is needed.
What is NCCT Right Wrist?
In an NCCT Right Wrist examination, the patient is positioned with the affected wrist properly placed in the CT scanner. Several images are collected at various angles and assembled together to form detailed images of the cross sections. These images enable the radiology professional to examine the bones of the wrist, joint space, alignment, and other surrounding structures visible when they are scanned on the computer. In a routine NCCT examination, no injection is needed for the X-rays.
Common Reasons for NCCT Right Wrist
Evaluation of suspected wrist fractures
Assessment of complex or subtle fractures
Evaluation of bone fragments or displacement
Assessment of wrist joint alignment
Evaluation of injuries following trauma
Assessment of chronic or persistent wrist pain
Evaluation of bone lesions or structural abnormalities
Preoperative planning for selected wrist conditions
Follow-up of previously diagnosed fractures or bone abnormalities
Conditions Evaluated
Wrist Fractures
NCCT can provide detailed information about fracture location, alignment, displacement, and involvement of the joint surface.
Scaphoid and Carpal Bone Injuries
CT may help evaluate fractures or structural abnormalities involving the scaphoid and other carpal bones.
Joint Abnormalities
The examination can demonstrate changes in wrist joint spaces and bony alignment.
Bone Lesions
Selected benign or suspicious bone lesions may be assessed in greater anatomical detail using CT.
Traumatic Injuries
NCCT can help evaluate complex injuries where detailed bony assessment is required following trauma.
Who Should Consider This Scan?
Your doctor may recommend NCCT Right Wrist if you:
Have sustained an injury or trauma to the wrist
Have persistent wrist pain despite initial imaging
Have a suspected fracture that requires detailed assessment
Need evaluation of a complex or displaced wrist fracture
Have a known wrist bone abnormality requiring follow-up
Require detailed imaging before selected surgical procedures
Benefits of NCCT Right Wrist
Provides detailed cross-sectional images of wrist bones
Does not require intravenous contrast for a routine examination
Helps assess complex and subtle fractures
Provides information about fracture alignment and joint involvement
Supports surgical and treatment planning
Offers detailed evaluation of complex wrist anatomy

Book Your NCCT Right Wrist
If a doctor has advised detailed evaluation of the wrist following trauma, persistent pain, or suspected bone abnormality, NCCT Right Wrist provides valuable information about the bones and joint structures. Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy provides CT imaging with advanced technology and appropriate professional supervision.
Test information: Fasting NOT required.
Reporting: Within 24 hours*
No fasting or special preparation is generally required for a routine NCCT Right Wrist unless specifically advised by the doctor or radiology team.
Inform the radiology team about your symptoms, recent wrist injury, previous fractures, or ongoing wrist-related treatment.
Bring previous X-rays, CT scans, MRI reports, or other relevant wrist investigations if available.
Remove watches, bracelets, rings, or other metal objects around the wrist when requested.
Inform the medical team if you have any implanted medical device or metallic material in the area being examined.
Inform the radiology team if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or there is a possibility of pregnancy.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy positioning of the affected wrist.
Follow the positioning instructions provided by the radiology staff.
Remain as still as possible during image acquisition to reduce movement-related image blurring.
Inform the radiology team if severe pain makes it difficult to keep the wrist in the required position.
The patient’s symptoms, injury history, previous investigations, and relevant medical information are reviewed before the scan.
The patient is positioned comfortably on the CT examination table with the Right wrist placed appropriately according to the scanning protocol.
The wrist is positioned and supported to minimise movement during image acquisition.
A series of CT images is obtained from multiple angles using X-rays.
No intravenous contrast injection is routinely required for a standard NCCT Right Wrist examination.
The acquired data are reconstructed into detailed cross-sectional images of the wrist.
The examination provides detailed visualisation of the carpal bones, distal radius and ulna, joint spaces, bone alignment, and other structures visible within the scanned area.
CT images may help assess fractures, small bone fragments, displacement, joint involvement, bony abnormalities, and selected bone lesions.
Additional image reconstructions in different planes may be performed when required for detailed assessment.
The patient is asked to remain still throughout the scan to maintain image quality.
The images are reviewed by the radiologist and correlated with symptoms, clinical findings, previous imaging, and relevant medical history.
Appropriate radiation-safety and patient-positioning protocols are followed throughout the examination.
