Book your Colour Doppler Ultrasound of Neck Veins at the Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy (Diagnostic Centre NABL & NABH), Advanced Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging Services. Colour Doppler is a non-invasive ultrasound technique that can be used to create images of blood flow moving through vessels and to identify particular abnormal blood vessels. The examination evaluates accessible veins in the neck to assess blood flow and investigate suspected venous abnormalities.
Colour Doppler of the Neck Veins is an imaging test that is performed to evaluate the blood flow in the veins that can be accessed in the neck area, if necessary, e.g., Internal Jugular and External Jugular veins. A method using both traditional ultrasound imaging and Doppler ultrasound to reveal blood vessels and determine the flow and direction of blood. The exam might be recommended if there is a suspicion of venous obstruction or abnormal blood flow. The choice of specific veins is related to the doctor's prescription and clinical indications.
A high-frequency sound wave imaging technique called Colour Doppler that is used to visualize the internal structures and the flow of blood in blood vessels. Colour coding can show direction and pattern of blood flow, and there is an additional measurement of blood flow velocity with the use of the spectral Doppler. In the neck (venous) study, the study assesses neck vein blood flow that is accessible. Used to assist in the diagnosis of some abnormalities like venous obstruction or flow patterns. The examination doesn't use X-rays or other ionizing radiation and is generally not painful. The scan duration varies depending on the veins examined and the complexity of the study.
Color Doppler ultrasound might be used to help evaluate for the presence of blood clots in available neck veins, such as jugular veins. These findings are compared with the clinical findings and other pertinent investigations.
The examination may identify abnormal flow or signs of obstruction in accessible neck veins. In more complex vessels or when the obstruction in the vessel is believed to be deeper or at less accessible locations, more detailed pictures might be necessary.
Doppler ultrasound is an examination to determine the direction and movement of blood through the veins in the neck. If your blood flow patterns are abnormal, have these patterns checked more thoroughly.
The exam can be helpful in those who have a central venous catheter to determine which neck veins are accessible in that patient and help identify any problems that may occur with these.
Selected vascular conditions can be assessed following treatment/surgery using neck venous Doppler ultrasound. The examination procedure varies depending on the clinical question.
When appropriate and as indicated in the neck area, some abnormalities in venous circulation may be useful to observe with Colour Doppler.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre with the following services: Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Pathology. We specialize in the best methods for acquiring imagery, obtaining high-quality images, ensuring patient comfort during imaging, and providing information for our report writing. The imaging team fulfills all studies' requirements.
If your doctor has recommended you have a Colour Doppler study of the neck veins, please contact Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy. If there was an earlier Doppler examination, bring your prescription, earlier Doppler reports and/or medical records (if any), so that the correct examination procedure is followed.
