Get your Colour Doppler Ultrasound of Left Lower Limb Veins services from Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy, an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre that provides you with advanced Radiology and diagnostic imaging services. It is a non-invasive ultrasound diagnostic method that permits measurement of blood velocity in veins and analysis of selected vascular abnormalities. The examination primarily involves left legveins of the left lower limb, and is used to provide diagnosis of changes to the veins that might need more investigation.
Colour Doppler Left Lower Limb Veins is an imaging procedure that is used to determine the flow of blood through the veins of the left thigh. It is a fusion of conventional ultrasound and Doppler technology that will help to view blood vessels and determine changes in the direction and nature of the blood flow. It might be recommended because of inflammation, pain, tenderness, and/or a potential case of a blood clot in the leg. It might help identify deep vein thrombosis, venous obstruction, and other abnormalities like the return flow towards the heart.
Venous ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the veins and assess blood flow. Direction and pattern of blood flow can be displayed with the use of colour coding, and an additional estimation of the blood flow characteristics can be made with the use of spectral Doppler. This exam may include physical assessment of the blood flow and/or vein compressibility that may assist in evaluating and exploring a suspected venous abnormality. It does not use any forms of ionizing radiation and thus is in the most part painless. The scan time varies depending on the size of the area being scanned and the complexity of the scan.
Colour Doppler ultrasound can also help evaluate for deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot in a deep vein. The examination is used to evaluate blood flow and assess the compressibility of veins and aids clinical assessment.
Sometimes, the test can identify regions of inadequate venous blood flow in veins that can be reached. If the obstructed vessel is too deep to be evaluated by ultrasound, further imaging might be necessary.
Doppler ultrasound measures the flow of blood through the veins and determines the direction of blood flow. Where anything seems not to fit right, Abnormal flow patterns may indicate a venous disorder and may require clinical correlation or further investigation.
This examination may be beneficial for those patients with varicose veins for evaluation of venous circulation. Additional investigation of reflux may be warranted, based on clinical indication.
Vascular treatments and procedures may result in a venous Doppler to determine blood flow after the treatment. The nature of the test procedure will depend on the type of treatment given and the requirements of the physician in his clinical practice.
During the examination, if there are certain abnormalities of veins seen on the left lower limb then the examination can help to establish the diagnosis. Where needed, further investigation may be recommended.
Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre with the facilities of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Pathology section. The diagnostic imaging aspects we specialize in involve the proper type of exam procedure, quality image collection, patient comfort, and proper reporting of the image. The imaging team works based on the protocol for studies to facilitate accurate and clinically relevant assessment.
Please call Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy for an appointment if you have already been referred for a Colour Doppler exam of the veins of the left lower leg by your doctor. Bring any medical records and old Doppler reports (if applicable) to follow the proper examination process.
