USG OBS BPS TWINS

₹2500

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is located at a diagnostic centre that is accredited by NABL & NABH and offers the following complete Ultrasonography services, which include the USG OBS BPS Twins Test, also known as the Biophysical Profile in Twin pregnancy testing. This ultrasound study closely observes the well-being of the twin fetuses in the pregnancy by evaluating a set of ultrasound parameters such as fetal movements, fetal tone, fetal breathing movements, and amniotic fluid volume. A doctor may recommend this test to assess fetal well-being and help guide further pregnancy monitoring or management.

About USG OBS BPS Twins

During this USG, looking at the biophysical profile of the twins occurring in a twin pregnancy is assessed, USG OBS BPS Twins. Biophysical profile (BPP) is a combination of the biophysical measurements from ultrasound assessment of amniotic fluid volume and assessment of fetal activity. Evaluation of fetal HR monitoring may also be conducted as part of the evaluation that may be needed on clinical grounds. Every baby is checked on an individual basis in order to check if the baby is doing well to see if any more monitoring or follow-up may be needed.

What is USG OBS BPS Twins?

USG OBS BPS Twins is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging procedure that can determine a variety of selected indicators of baby twins' health. It tracks fetal breathing movements, movements of the entire body, the ability of muscle tone and the amount of amniotic fluid for every child. The outcome may provide the physician with insights into the babies' growth in the womb.

Common Reasons for USG OBS BPS Twins

  • Twin Pregnancy Monitoring: examines certain markers for the well-being of the baby in a twin pregnancy
  • Fetal breathing movements: Fetal chest and diaphragm movements similar to breathing.
  • Fetal Muscle Tone: Assesses limb movements of extension and flexion.
  • Mild decrease in fetal movement: If the doctor advises this, it may be a component of a fetal movement assessment.
  • Follow-up Examinations: If follow-up exam advised, monitors fetal wellbeing.

Conditions Evaluated

Fetal Breathing Movements

The exam examines the type of fetal chest and diaphragm movements that resemble breathing. One of the parameters evaluated for fetal well-being is these movements.

Fetal Muscle Tone

The muscle tone of the fetal muscles is evaluated by noting the baby's movements, like extension and flexion of the limbs. Results aid in developing a biophysical profile for each baby.

Amniotic Fluid Volume

Amniotic fluid is assessed according to the pregnancy and scan protocol. In twin pregnancies, fluid around each fetus may be evaluated individually, particularly when clinically indicated.

Twin Pregnancy Assessment

Individual assessment of the babies, taking into account their position and appropriate ultrasound results. The exam assists the physician to assess the biophysical profile of each baby and to decide if additional monitoring is required.

High-Risk Pregnancy Monitoring

The biophysical profile may be ordered for twin pregnancies if there is a clinical risk or any situation that needs more monitoring. Interpretation is done with regard to gestational age, pregnancy history, and other pertinent investigations.

Why Choose Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy?

Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy is an NABL & NABH Accredited Diagnostic Centre with assisted services in the field of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology. This centre focuses on appropriate imaging procedures, good quality ultrasound imaging, ensuring comfort of the patient during imaging, and clinically appropriate reporting of the images. Test information: Usually, no fasting is required.

Reporting: Within 24 hours*

  • Fasting is generally not required for an obstetric biophysical profile ultrasound.
  • Follow the diagnostic centre's instructions regarding bladder preparation.
  • Bring your doctor's prescription and previous ultrasound reports.
  • Inform the staff about your gestational age and relevant pregnancy history.
  • Share any concerns about the babies' movements or findings from previous antenatal examinations.
  • The procedure will be explained to you before the examination.
  • You may be asked to change position during the scan to help obtain clear images of both babies.
  • Additional monitoring or follow-up may be recommended depending on the findings.
