USG GUIDED FNAC CONSUMABLES

₹500

USG Guided FNAC Consumables in Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy are medical supplies that are used during ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures. Research-based assessment is done by our Diagnostic, NABL & NABH-certified Centre, which helps in sampling of cells with the help of procedure-specific consumables and offers high-level radiology & diagnostic imaging services.

About USG Guided FNAC Consumables

USG Guided fine needle Aspiration Consumables consist of the sterile kit and accessories used to aspirate the cellular material from a lump, lesion, or abnormal area while using Ultrasound. These materials assist the radiologist with performing the procedure and keep it in proper sterile, sanitary conditions. The consumables needed may differ depending on the size and type of the lesion, the site of the lesion, and/or the clinical needs of the patient, and depend on the sampling technique.

What Are USG Guided FNAC Consumables?

USG-guided FNAC Consumables are medical consumables that are utilized during a fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) procedure that has been performed with the aid of ultrasound guidance. During the ultrasound imaging, the radiologist can use the real-time image to visualize the target area and bring in the fine needle for the collection of cells and/or cellular material for cytological examination. These include fine aspiration needles, syringes, sterile gloves, drapes, Safeskin preparations, local anaesthetic (if required), specimen slides or containers, and dressings. The type and quantity of supplies used will vary from one area of the target to another, sampling method, and clinical needs.

Common Reasons for USG-Guided FNAC

  • Fine needle aspiration: To take cells from specific thyroid nodules for further analysis.
  • Breast biopsies: To take a sample from any lump or problem area in one's breast.
  • Lymph node biopsy: To examine enlarged or abnormal (suspicious) lymph nodes.
  • Superficial or deeper soft tissue lesions: To investigate a superficial or deeper soft tissue lump(s).
  • Salivary gland lesions: To collect samples of some lesions from the salivary glands.
  • Unexplainable masses – to remove cellular material if abnormal masses are detected during physical and/or body examination.

Conditions Evaluated

Thyroid Nodules and Lesions

Ultrasound-guided FNAC may be useful in evaluating thyroid nodules to obtain the cytological specimen to determine if more investigation is needed.

Breast Abnormalities

It is a technique used to assess some lumps in the breast and those that are discovered on imaging to collect cells to analyse.

Lymph Node Abnormalities

Structural features of a cell indicative of reactive changes, infection, and/ or malignant changes can help differentiate inflamed or abnormal lymph nodes with FNA.

Salivary Gland Lesions

If you select the lesion in the salivary glands, the cellular material can be collected when guided by ultrasound for diagnostic evaluation by cytology.

Soft-Tissue Masses

May be repeated to help diagnose superficial or select deeper localised masses of soft tissue, in which cells from the mass are taken.

Inflammatory and Infective Changes

The aspirate can be studied, if necessary, in certain situations to aid in the diagnosis of infective or inflammatory diseases.

Who May Require USG Guided FNAC Consumables?

These consumables are used when a patient is advised to undergo ultrasound-guided FNAC for cytological evaluation of a nodule, lump, lymph node, or other suitable abnormality. The procedure might be recommended when a lump, nodule, or enlarged lymph node – or an abnormality seen on an imaging test is found and cannot be successfully diagnosed by other methods. The amount and composition of the consumables are dependent on what is being sampled, the sampling technique being used, and specific clinical needs.
